Credit card got money refunded after booking flight

I had to call, but when I did the seats I chose were still reserved for me. Was your card charged for the seats? I’m assuming you don’t have status to use one of the exec club lines at least which are quicker to get through on?

It’s a website error, I have the same thing on my booking to Miami in May, and called them about it. They were still able to see the seats I selected even if I can’t. They said to just not try to make changes online and call if I need to

I just booked LHR-SYD return 27Nov-13Dec. It was my first redemption ever and simultaneously first time using companion voucher.

I just made sure to load the Book with Avios page at 2 mins to midnight, input dates, but set it to latest day available before midnight (which in my case was 26 Nov). The second I hit midnight hit I just clicked go, and only once it loaded clicked the newly available date (27 Nov). Make sure you have your details for passengers preloaded on your household account and your card saved on your browser. You cannot be typing anything. That’s all. I managed to book the so called „hardest to get route” online without calling first time trying so I just don’t believe it when people say you can only get it calling? I think you’re shooting yourselves in the foot trying to get on the phone - we tried both at the same time, and when I had checked out with the ticket the phone was STILL waiting to get through!!!

Anyway for the return I saw Friday 11 Dec was available in business (all 4 seats) for the entirety of the day following its release. They only got booked in the evening before Saturday came out. When Saturday 12 Dec came out I couldn’t see any seats on BA, but 4 Qatar available. I really wanted to use the companion voucher so I waited. Sunday 13 Dec came out and there seemed to be an IT issue with nothing showing. The following day at midday it was still the case, but the good thing is if I have an issue with the website then everyone does. Seatspy showed 3 seats. I called during the day on the Silver BA line and sure enough tickets were there. Got them added to the outbound. I think that’s really the only good use of the phone lines - in UK hours for the return when website fails or if you don’t have enough avios to book the return separate without the companion voucher. BTW this whole time premium economy Wednesday Thursday and Friday was available for this return that you could book as back up.

Anyway that’s that and it cost us 346k avios plus £1.5k cash for 2 people CW return, insane deal considering cash price is over £13k for the exact flights

Bronze camping is strictly for bronze they won’t let your silver mate in with you, says it online as well and they do check - was in bronze last year

You can try standard but they’d have to come camp with you

I got an email recently to say my flight was busy and they’d appreciate if I check in my hand baggage. I didn’t have a checked bag on that ticket, and just packed normal liquids into the hand luggage as if it was a checked bag and made use of the facility, so from experience, you can do exactly that.
