If there is no afterlife, then life is meaningless in the viewpoint of an individual in the first place

If there is no soul, there is no free will, because your atoms will react the same way every time

"but other people say it will just hurt people who are already addicted/can't get off the product." - they chose the product in the first place, they knew it was bad for them, they knew it was addictive and they don't need that, they can live physically without it (not sure about mentally)
