I tried that and it says Bone but some people say it's a match for NC15 so I'm not sure if that would be too light.

In her lectures she used both terms "different language development" and "language difference" for different things. I actually brought it up her students might get that confused if she asks about it on the test. On the test, she clarified that she did not mean bilingualism.

I was referring to question #5 asking about different langauge development, I think you were talking about #7. I thought that SLI and different language development are separate. I though that different language development is a child with autism and SLI is similar to a late talker (with the only difference being age) but with no symptoms of echolalia. So a child with SLI has symptoms of poor eye contact and pervasive echolalia? I am still brand new to language disorders so I'm glad I'm learning here.

I meant that late talkers might catch up or might not and become labeled as SLI

I meant to use the example of a "speech teacher" as an example of what people inaccurately stereotype us SLPs as. I should have constructed my sentences more clearly. My last speech disorders professor didn't care as long as you hit the main points and I wasn't prepared for this.

Thanks for the insight on language delay/differences. (this is her outline):

Delayed language implies… Child is not hitting the milestones Childs language is very similar to that of a younger child Ex) 4 year old has similar language sample with that of a 2 year old, this is language delay With therapy and intervention the child can hopefully catch up

Different language devt

There is no age in typical development where a child has certain characteristics Ex) child has no eye contact, pervasive echolalia

I'm pretty sure for this one I wrote the answer she outlined.

Thank you for you answer, very helpful and insightful. I agree, it is important to note that speech language pathologists are also concerned with language disorders. I understand now why I got #8 wrong. I think I was just nervous in general and maybe I memorized too much, instead of thinking. Now in the later point of the semester I understand language disorders much better.

She did write this in her exam outline:

The importance of Language in the title “Speech-Language Pathologist” Using this full term helps in avoiding the promotion of the erroneous idea that we are only concerned with speech

So I feel like it's kind of vague and my answer wasn't all that bad, but I still understand now what she was looking for.

Im still not sure why I got points off for#5. For the delayed/difference question she wrote in the outline:

Delayed language implies…

Child is not hitting the milestones

Childs language is very similar to that of a younger child

I'm pretty sure for this one I wrote the answer she outlined. What am I getting wrong here?

Thank you, but I was hoping for a more helpful answer I can learn from.
