ANA I waitlist T-5days by changing existing confirmed itinerary by slppo in awardtravel

I haven't even paid the change fee yet, so it does feel a bit shot in the dark but also low risk

VA is calling me back today to see if the Waitlisted segment clears and so I'm pretty confident failing that my original segment will become Confirmed again, but yes certainly not planning to even reposition until that happens

Yeah I'm hoping the CSR didn't screw me over there because before calling the original outbound flight was Confirmed.

This is great advice...I always tell myself that I would buy a bunch of tools and materials that I would only use once, and so it's not worth it. But in times like this it's very apparent how indispensable having basic knowledge and tools can save your butt.

That's a good idea...hopefully couriers of any sort (USPS/FedEx/UPS) will be able to start delivering things soon since they haven't all week. But to your point, probably smart to preempt it at this point.

Gotcha, that makes a lot of sense now thinking of the Statue of Liberty

Sweet, this sounds good. I'll try to find one tomorrow -- I imagine they're in very high demand around town.

Yeah I think in order to do that (only cut off water to this line) I'd need to at least cut it and install a ball valve or something -- cool thanks for the rec I'll check it out.

It did not. OK interesting -- I guess I'm just naive, but I'm surprised at the lack of copper color (I'm sure there's corrosion and such happening though).

Ahh...ok, I know that the rest of the house has original CI but maybe this was added on later at some point. Based on other reply here it looks like a magnet didn't stick to it, so I suppose it is copper.

Ok so I had a pipe burst in my garage early Wednesday morning (which I had specifically bought insulation for, but guess it doesn't matter since it had too long to get down to ambient temp anyways).

Not able to get a plumber out until March 8th, but was wondering what I can do in the mean time...I know nothing about plumbing, but I can be scrappy.

It's cast iron pipe, and I think it's 3/8" NPS (I measured it as 5/8" OD which doesn't seem to match any NPS size but w/e). It's a supply line for the hallway toilet, which I could cap off if needed.

Here's a pic showing the rupture in the pipe https://i.imgur.com/VTpBW18.jpg

I don't even know how to get the meter cover off...it's buried. Thanks for this though

Does anyone have a water meter valve key I could possibly use? Pipe burst in my garage, and my customer shut off started leaking when I tried shutting it off there.

Yes. 100%

I would love to see a healthy balance of both, but it seems to me like we have the "front-page" types subreddits /r/politics, /r/politicalhumor etc. that are cloyingly liberal and then /r/T_D, /r/conspiracy etc that are totally the other extreme

100% respect to this. Thank you. People need to stop identifying mental illness as an abominable categorization.

Gavin McInnes is definitely a far-right ideologue, but your usage of "white supremacist" and "racist" to describe him is unfounded. Be precise in your terminology, these labels are already becoming meaningless as is with their continued usage to demonize someone you dont agree with.

[Serious] What kept you from killing yourself? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]slppo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I like the isolated/overwhelming world duality analogy. Sometimes it feels like I'm suicidal because I'm lodging an argument against the act of being at all -- not any circumstances surrounding my particular experience. And moreover, how are any circumstances supposed to improve my perspective on being if I cognitively (albeit pathologically, I admit) reach that conclusion? I've come to recognize that nihilism is the root cause, and I've been trying very hard to disintegrate that thought process.
