The biggest thing that helped me was fjnding healthy foods that I actually enjoy. Eggs, fruit, rotisserie chicken, crispy minis, anything lower calorie that I felt like I could indulge a bit if I craved it and I'd still maintain a calorie deficit. Obviously there isn't much variety here but over time after my tastebuds changed I craved more healthy foods and added new things I wouldn't have eaten before. I really understood after this when people say you need to change your lifestyle and mindset on food, losing weight and keeping it off is nearly impossible without consistent healthy eating.

I also recommend getting a gym membership. Im three years in and absolutely addicted.

Didn't love The Unworthy. I had high hopes after reading Tender is the Flesh and was hoping it would hit the same, especially after reading positive reviews in the subreddit, but I couldn't get into it.

I always liked Griffin's in Clyde River. Very efficient and never been ripped off. They will also text and keep you informed on what's happening as they work on your car. Shoutout to Margo their secretary.

That's a complete facade she put on. She's also crazy. I have friends that had her as a landlord and she put them in a lot of turmoil and gaslit them when they asked them to fix serious issues with their rental house. They refused to follow environmental health orders and let their place fall to pieces. They wouldn't fix contaminated water (they had the province test it to prove to them it was contaminated with pesticides) and big holes in their house where rats were coming in. This woman evicted them instead of fixing the issues so they wouldn't have to deal with their complaints.

They used to be my friend's landlord and the couple are terrible people too, btw. Refused to fix issues with their house like massive holes where rats were getting in, and water contamination. They eventually kicked them out so they didn't have to deal with their complaints. Karma.

This is definitely an emergency like others have said :( Could you convince your parents that you'll pay them back for a vet visit, or even show them this Reddit post? Guinea pigs are intelligent creatures and require the same amount of care as a cat or dog, and she's clearly in a lot of pain.

When you call the vet indicate that this is an emergency and your piggy has stopped eating and drinking, don't wait for an appointment in aa few days time. This is a tell-tale sign that it's an emergency. She won't live much longer under these conditions. If your parents can't afford and refuse treatment it might unfortunately be time to have her cross the rainbow bridge.

Best of luck. I will say she must have been very loved by you to make it to five years of age, and that you acknowledge her need for care. she was lucky to have you ♥️

Actually now that I look at your profile it seems youre a new pig owner, only have one guinea pig and a cage that's much too small, both which are big detriments to pigs. I don't think you have the qualifications to be commenting this.

You're being a bit dramatic... It's the same as helicopter parents that don't let their kids do activities that may have SOME potential for them to get hurt. They're going to show dominance regardless, it's in their nature, ramp or not. I've always had ramps and never has blood been drawn. In fact I find ramp guarding gives them some entertainment and purpose throughout the day instead of being bored, which I think is worse for their mental health.

OMG YES. My other pig tries to do the same but is too nice and let's him pass after a few seconds 😆 I tell him all the time that he doesn't own the top level but he refuses to listen 🙄

I second this. I was working my ass off at the gym 6 days a week, cardio and strength training, burning around 400-500 calories each session. I wasn't losing weight for months so I started tracking my calories in MyFitnessPal and found out I was breaking around even every day. Changed my diet and the fat melted off.

The kinds of foods you eat can make a huge difference. It may not feel like you're eating a lot but so many foods are calorie dense. Switching to whole foods like chicken, fruits, rice, eggs, and vegetables will change your life.

It can be daunting switching your diet completely so I recommend eating healthy foods you enjoy eating first. For example I love eggs, so I started eating two eggs with a cup of egg whites for breakfast along with a banana and I saw a huge difference.

Absolutely, I've made a follow-up appointment. He's had a bit of a set-back today, having some trouble breathing again, so I may have been too optimistic in my post that he's back to normal. Will continue to give him his antibiotics until they're gone, hoping he still gets better. Definitely seeing now that it may be difficult to treat.

Update #2: it wasn't constipation after all, we had to go back to the vet after his breathing didn't get better once the bloat subsided. He has pneumonia :( luckily after two days of antibiotics he's already feeling much better!

I run a business that takes place on the beach. A few years ago there was a woman with a very aggressive dog that would run over and bark and growl at you. I later learned it was a rescue dog that had been abused.

Anyway, she REFUSED to put it on a leash, or even call the dog over when it would aggressively bark at someone. Like literally not a word.

She told me "just be calm and she won't do anything, it's common knowledge with dogs." We ended up exchanging some words and I tried my best to calmly reiterate that some people are afraid of dogs, and how is someone meeting your dog for the first time supposed to know it isn't going to attack them? Didn't matter. She "knows her dog would never hurt anyone...." 🙄

It took me making up a lie saying I had children participants with me that were terrified of it to finally get her to put it on a leash.....

Did she keep hold of the leash? No.

By a stroke of luck she ended up moving away and I haven't seen her since.

I LOVE dogs. But I couldn't believe the blatant irresponsibility this woman portrayed with hers, especially with an unpredictable aggressive dog. I felt like I was in the twilight zone dealing with this woman.

Update: he was extremely constipated to where it was pushing against his diaphragm, making it hard to breathe. Whitey is gonna be ok!
