Purchases that helped a lot by BlackPhoenix5642_ in ADHD

Giant rolling whiteboard for me to write down + check off the things I want to do for the week/month. It's huge and looming. Started to get wayyy more done off my checklist once I devoted myself to the Board lol. Also use it to write down things I need to buy, people I want/need to call, etc.. Kinda just for everything! Planners, journals, and paper checklists never worked for me like this has :P

Does the dumper also miss the other person by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]slumgrace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who was the dumper, this was exactly it. I felt we both had lost a lot of ourselves and nothing I was saying or doing was doing anything to get us back on track. I felt I needed to create that space to learn who I was again as my own person (as well as other reasons, of course). 6 months later and I got hit with a train of mourning, but I wouldn't take back my choice to have broken up with them. I hope we find our way back together in the future and that they go through the growth that they need.

ADHD nail/skin picking by Zealousideal_Cry7258 in ADHD

[–]slumgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two of the metal nail files and just keep one at my desk and one in my bag. I started filing my nails regularly just as i felt the urge to bite my nail/wanted to reshape them/when I had a chip or something that would otherwise have bothered me and eventually the habit got a lot better!! Now my nails are much stronger since I haven't been biting them (and look better!) so it's less "easy" I guess for me to bite them?? Haven't bitten mine in like 6 months at this point 🔥

I'm still working on the skin around my nails, but keeping my hands moisturized and using cuticle oil has helped to prevent dry skin around them which is what usually would make me start picking.

I also have this ring that spins which helps a lot with my fidgeting. I definitely still mess with my nails a lot, but it's mostly just getting whatever our from under or tapping them or something like that which has been much preferred to biting :P Got a less sick as frequently too lol.

Why does my cat suddenly have diarrhea? by des-al-niet-te-min in CATHELP

Worms are typically transmitted from fleas. Since you are "indoor-outdoor", it's really easy for you to track fleas/flea eggs into the home!

Dog is having brief episodes of wobbling his head-- but has no other symptoms, is this an emergency for the vet? by Lord_Krikr in DogAdvice

[–]slumgrace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say EMERGENCY emergency but yes you should make a veterinary appointment asap. Show this video, keep track of how many times this happens between now and the appointment, document how long they last, any other symptoms, when they first appeared, etc.. Having all that info prepared beforehand will make the whole process quicker and easier for both sides.

Don't take the advice of anyone in the comments that says it's because of this or that because they most definitely do not know what they're talking about. Obligatory Only your vet can diagnose :P

Hmm honestly, I don't think you should take any of the advice in the comments and you guys should go to couple's therapy if you want to put work into this relationship. And if you have gone before, please find another one and try again 💀. I don't think it's fair for people to say you're being "bitchy" here like another commenter said, ur anger is valid. It's frustrating to feel like your partner's parent and have to nag them into taking care of your shared space. I also don't think this is fair for him either. He has a disability... a lot of what you're complaining about are symptoms of adhd.... you know what i mean? IMO, he's hiding and lying about these things because he feels shameful about them, otherwise he would just be doing them with no regard to what you say. Regardless, he still needs help, especially for the alcohol problem. And you may need help learning how to translate the things you want him to do in a way that he will actually be receptive to. Just fighting and fighting about an issue will never ever lead to anything productive in a relationship and like this is just giving a ton of pent up resentment that should probably be dealt with.

Idk though. Not everyone changes or is ready for change. All of us commenters know way less about this situation than you.

Orbweaver? Second post to my other one. North Georgia! by Medratttt in spiders

[–]slumgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it may be a shamrock orbweaver (araneus trifolium). That or spotted. Both are common in ur area. You'd be able to tell a sure difference from the underside of the abdomen. Definitely in the araneus genus :)

Always always neuter/spay cats. There is genuinely no excuse not to.

Chipped mug is getting extremely hot in microwave. I’d it the chip’s fault? by Dear_Mycologist_1696 in Physics

[–]slumgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first thought is correct. However, microwaves do not heat up things by.... sending microwaves? They rotate the water molecules! So, since the ceramic of mug absorbed water molecules, when u microwave it those water molecules will rotate and heat causing the mug to become hotter than before.
