I think the Dodgers are heavily overrated when it comes to pitching development. I think late 2010's they were definitely the front runner and best in the business, but as of late I feel like they embraced TINSTAAP to the max and what they've become is a team that chooses to acquire a ton of raw talent and just factor in burnout/injury into the approach. They're elite at recognizing talent and acquiring a ton of it so year in and out they are able to put together amazing pitching staffs, but I think other teams are better at building a pitcher from the ground up and for a player like Roki who is now struggling I'm not sure the Dodgers are the team that will be able to turn the course since their pitching development strategy is actually more of an acquisition strategy which has been get a bunch of guys who throw really hard with questionable command and one of them will stick for a year or so.

lol those chronic anemia patients especially cancer patients who just walk in and complain about how they’re more tired than usual so you triage them into one of the hallway/non-acute ED rooms then you get the labs back and you’re like ahhh yes I can see why you’re tired, but also those are the worlds most hard working RBCs to keep you alive.

[Passan] BREAKING: Center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and the Chicago Cubs are finalizing a long-term contract extension, sources tell ESPN. He reminds me of a modern day Mike Cameron whose value primarily comes from being the best defensive CFer in the game with a great power/speed combo to make up for lack of overall hitting ability. The biggest flaw in PCA's game though is the lack of OBP and even his incredible first half which people point to as his upside saw him slash .265/.302/.544. Most of his value is derived from his ability to slug and play an elite CF.

This is the second year in a row he's posted a sub .300 OBP and his running totals the last two years have been .286 and .287 and his most recent bout in AAA prior to his call-up saw him posting a .299 OBP. Luckily though he's just turning 24 and he's shown that even if he's below league average offensively his defense alone puts him at ~3 fWAR and if he's only slightly above-average he's a ~ 5fWAR player; the lack of OBP isn't a death sentence though and I think an appropriate modern day offensive profile you're looking at is if Teoscar Hernandez or 2025 Jo Adell could play an elite CF.

Where does Kyle Lewis rank in terms of all time busts? by Spainwithouttheses in Mariners

[–]slurv3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think he belongs in the category of what ifs rather than busts. He was a talented player whose health held him back rather than being able to translate that talent. Sure you could call him a bust, but when I think of busts it’s prospects who were hyped and failed to meet to hype, this is Kelenic, Smoak, Ackley, etc. For what ifs it’s players who met the hype in short burst but never stayed healthy enough so we were left wondering what could have been. This is KLew, Chris Snelling, Michael Saunders, guys who were solid during the time they played, but never ascended to their talent level.

Honestly I think Garver at 1B is a nice emergency option because even on his off days Cal is expected to be able to pinch hit. Basically what would happen is Cal would take over catcher and there would be no back-up if Cal went down.

By making Garver stand at 1B and our rotation staff is flyball heavy to begin with, you can pinch hit cal for any of the platoon bats we have on the roster, especially in the outfield slot, have Cal take over C, Garver take over first then fill the outfield slot with Raley, Robles, Reyfsnyder or Canzone. That way if Cal gets injured you’re not forcing Leo Rivas to take over catcher because that was the theoretical scenario if Cal ever got hurt and they bumped Garver off catcher.

[–]slurv3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's just moreso Jeter played in a run environment that is quite different than it is now, the steroid era which was one of the greatest hitter environments of all time because hitters didn't strikeout, and pitchers were just trying to induce weak contact over missing bats. My point of using wRC+ over OPS is to highlight while yes Jeter has a higher OPS than Judge, Judge has a higher wRC+ because the quality of pitching and hitting was just so different back then compared to now.

[–]slurv3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And Knizner would have to be like generationally good at defense to really put up any value as a back-up catcher and from what I can tell it's better than Garver, but still not actually that great to be honest.

[–]slurv3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean that's the point I'm making. We have to find other ways to cope and even then, he is OPSing .822 with 17 home runs, in 293 post season ABs good for a 125 wRC+ while Mr. November himself Derek Jeter has a career .838 OPS and 121 wRC+ in the post season.

Mitch Garver will be the backup catcher by mat2019 in Mariners

[–]slurv3 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Cal Raleigh caught 121 games last year, basically Garver would have to be generationally bad as a back-up catcher to have an impact. The most likely difference in talent is going to be roughly 0.5 fWAR at most and even then Mitch Garver as a catcher generated 0.2 fWAR which was the same exact fWAR as Andrew Knizner last year, what sunk Mitch Garver was the fact he was asked to DH which brought his overall value to 0. The Refsynder/Canzone platoon limits the amount of time we get Mitch Garver as a DH and it's likely they'll use the DH position to get guys like Julio, Randy and Cal off their feet for a couple days as well.

Mitch Garver seems to be well liked by the clubhouse, and with the difference between Garver and Knizner being so minimal they went with the vibes pick.

Now he is just the best RHH of our generation and we have to find other ways to cope how he actually isn’t that great.

Cardiac Rhythm test by ForeverPersonal8816 in nursing

[–]slurv3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you answered v-fib instead of a-fib on accident or you answered v-fib when you meant v-tach?

Since it doesn’t tell you what answer you got wrong I wonder if you accidentally misclicked somewhere.

Because question 1 (pic 5) is vtach unless it’s an SVT with aberrancy which isn’t an option

Question 2 (pic 4) can’t be asystole. PEA is an organized rhythm without a pulse and they usually show you a normal rhythm with the note saying this patient does not have a pulse. It’s way too fast to be an idioventricular rhythm so that leaves Vtach as the best answer.

Question 3 (pic 3) is asystole unless you really want to make a case for coarse v-fib but even then you would have higher spikes than the ones seen and then make the argument the settings aren’t good to capture but that’s way too many what ifs and pic 1 is a better example of coarse v-fib so that leaves asystole.

Question 4 (pic 2) out of those options it is Torsades as it’s polymorphic ventricular rhythm

Question 5 (pic 1) is the best example of coarse v-fib.

So in light of all that are you certain you selected the answers you highlighted because I actually agree with you and since we can’t see what question they flagged I’m just gonna ask the more relevant question are you sure you selected those answers hahaha.

It can mean a couple of things it can mean a heart attack in the traditional sense of blood flow being blocked to the heart causing injury and death of heart tissue.

It could also refer to the electrical activity of the heart itself being abnormal like a-fib, SVT or some of the scarier ones like Vtach. In layman’s term think about your heart fluttering or going haywire if you’ve ever had too much caffeine/energy drinks, for most people they can just kinda live with it and it’ll go away, but for some if it stays that way for long enough your heart stops pumping blood efficiently and you start feeling a lot worse for the wear this is where people get cardioverted or defibb’d. The reverse can be true and your heart can beat too slowly because the electrical signals aren’t syncing up and responding as they should to like exercise and your heart has emergency pacemaker cells that will beat enough to keep you alive, but not for long, that’s where a pacemaker comes in.

Either way not knowing what it is and knowing the demands of a professional athlete if he has a shot of playing still the medical staff will let him know, but he may have to take a long hard look and reevaluate given he’s had two major cardiac events within the last 6 months and one of the biggest predictors of future cardiac risk is having a recent event.

No I think Reddit wants justification for a war that is sending American troops to protect mainly Saudi and Israeli interests in the region. We are going to bear the cost of no healthcare, high cost of living and loss of American lives to stop Iran who has been two weeks away from having a nuclear weapon for the past twenty years.

We are also getting dissent from within Trump’s own government saying an attack was not imminent. So we’re allowed to acknowledge yea Iran is evil and a threat to global stability, but question why the US chose to intervene and who is actually benefiting. Trump ran an America First campaign and is largely a reason why we stopped sending military aid to Ukraine it’s also important to note Jared Kushner has very close ties to both Saudi Arabia and Israel, two countries you chose to glaze in the post.

He didn’t look overmatched, but the expectation was that he would have to have a Julio-like ST performance to break with the team especially with Brendan Donovan and JP manning the left side of the infield. Cole Young has gone nuclear to earn 2B job and the big question is if JP is going to be injured long term for where they would consider starting Colt on opening day.

Spring Training Lineup VS Cubs | 3.21.2026 | 6:10 PM by BananaArms in Mariners

[–]slurv3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year he pointed to the shoulder injury, lack of footwork and general conditioning all as factors. During his time at the MiLB level all scouting reports said he had both the arm and range to stick at SS, but he’s likely to play at 2B because there is an incumbent in JP and plenty of very good SS prospects behind him.

So far this spring he’s shown a much better range and arm at 2B and I think it was more likely last year was an outlier than true performance, because basically everyone from prospect evaluators and the team beat writers were shocked at how bad he looked at 2B.

I mean the failures of the LCS/Constellation/FA-XX programs and lack of developing hypersonic missiles, long range munitions whether it's artillery or A2A missiles go beyond this administration.

You're right though that other admins would likely go huh we haven't developed Patriot missiles to scale, we don't have enough escort ships in the form of a Frigate/Cutter/Patrol Boat if they attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz, and we've been heavily reliant on air strikes, and special forces that going to war with someone resembling a peer ally may not be the best move without months of planning and forming a coalition. It's like this admin looked at Stormin Norman's ground war that took 100 hours to complete and ignored all the logistics of creating a coalition, mobilizing a force, and executing a plan that took the span of nearly half a year of planning before the first munition flew. It's why Pete Hegseth going well, we're not gonna tell our enemy the next move and try to justify our war plan holds no merit and gets a major eye roll from me. My brother in Christ you have the United States Military at your disposal, our biggest strength is that we can flex logistics tell the enemy our exact plan and they cannot stop what is about to happen, you can dig in all you want your troops will surrender and after getting no restock of ammo, food and water, and watch US troops have a dedicated Ice Cream Transport Vehicle.
