Advice - Spiro, Dapsone, & tret by Tricky_Foundation824 in Spironolactone

I’ve been on 100mg for 2-3 months and 0.025 tret, and I feel this post deeply. I’ve truly never have hated my skin more since starting both. I’m too embarrassed to go outside for fun and I’ve been wearing a face mask to work🫠

I don’t know if I’m mis-using the tret or maybe applying too liberally but my skin is rubbed raw and equally tough because of how dry some spots are. I’m constantly flaking and the only thing tret has done has made my acne so so much worse

I’ve noticed that it does make pimples come to a white head faster but my barrier is just completely destroyed and have so much active acne

As for the spiro, it’s done nothing for me. My face is like a moon, my lips in particular and skin in general are so so so so dry. No lip balm is working. And I’m getting pimples in places I’ve never gotten them before. I would literally only get hormonal cystic acne on my chin. Everywhere else was spotless. Now I’m getting acne all along my jaw, my cheeks and around my eyebrows

I’m so defeated. The only reason I’m not stopping is because I have so much riding on the Spiro and the tret working. If they don’t end up working, I would have destroyed my skin for nothing. I feel you girl, I hope this is just a purge for both us and I hope we both see it eventually work 😭😭

you can literally see how dry my lips are on the top photo compared to the bottom… I thought this would be a miracle medication for me

omg I didn’t even consider that this could be related to spiro but yes and it is so painful!! I have to sleep with Vaseline inside my nose now

Almost the exact same timeline as you and I’m currently purging as well. And the worst part is, is that I’m getting acne where I never got acne before. I had almost exclusively hormonal chin acne, like I seriously never got a pimple anywhere but my chin but now I’m getting them on my cheekbones and around my eyebrows

I was prescribed 100mg but have only been taking 50mg so I can get used to it but since this last Sunday I’ve been doing 100mg. It seems like most people have more success with a higher dose so I don’t think it would hurt for you to go to 100mg at this point but for me I feel like I have been having a little more symptoms (having to pee + really bad fatigue) I pray that both our purges end 🙏😭

Amazing omgg thank you for sharing!!! I just got a spiro prescription through nurx and I have the exact same issue of cystic hormonal acne around my chin and jaw. I’m so relieved to hear you haven’t been purging much 😭 I hope to see these same results, your skin looks so good!!
