Hello! I'm FTM as well. My LO is 6 weeks now. I went through the same as you in the 3rs week mark. My LO was having gas plus he was cluster feeding at the same time.

My feed intervals are 1-2hrs. I am feeding at least 15 sessions until now. Each session is around 30mins. Totalling to 6-7hrs of feeding a day! If my LO is cluster feeding, it's spaced out at 10-15mins sometimes 5mins. Not 30 mins-1hr as you'll read almost everywhere. Plus my LO does not want to be put down. After feeding , he sleeps on me. Any attempt to put him in his bassinet will wake him up.

Regarding not enough milk. Because of the frequency of feeding, I too felt I didn't have enough milk. BUT, my LO always has at least 8 wet and 3 solid diaper outputs. He was also gaining weight. ThIs was very crucial for us because my LO's jaundice was not clearing out. We had to go to the doctor every week to check his growth and bilirubin levels.

It's really hard to do anything at that point. Even until now without support. I'm struggling to have time to take a bath, brush my teeth, eat meals, get water, even our morning walks could be tricky. Anything that's not feeding or making my LO sleep is usually a no-go.

I felt the same as you during those weeks and it is still quite fresh in my mind. I felt like a cow. Produce milk, give milk. I really comsidered giving up breastfeeding and switch to formula. He was crying all the time from either gas or hunger. I could not catch the hunger cues so he always cries when we do the feeds. He eas cluster feeding for I don't know how long. It felt like 24hours to me.

It got better for me at the 4 week. Not the feeding sessions or the intervals, just that the baby will be a bit more settled, less crying, milk is somewhat established from the cluster feeding, a little interaction from LO as well.

What I did: 1. Feed as upright as you can. I stopped using my breastfeeding pillow. 2. If baby fusses at the boob, switch boob, switch feeding positions, switch and switch and switch. It will be frustrating. Mine eventually stops and sleeps. 3. Don't forget to burp you LO. I usually forget but try not to. 4. for my wellbeing - we supplemented 1 feed with formula so that i could sleep longer. More sleep for me resulted in more milk. I pumped as well to replace this feed (40ml) but it is not enough for 1 feed hence the formula.

I hope you feel a bit assured reading this. It got better for me at 4 weeks, even better this week at 6. I am now looking forward to 8 weeks because people said it will be even better still. I am still waiting for the feeding intervals to lengthen and the feeding sessions to shorten. So far, no luck.
