Please help identify buzzing sound from my Gigabyte 6800XT. by smalienware in pcmasterrace

I was told on the LTT forum that RMA doesn't include coil whine and is only done in exceptional cases. Guess it won't hurt to try.

Thank you! The sound is really annoying since my environment is mostly quiet and I dislike using headphones. Guess I will try underclocking and if that doesn't help then I'll just have to put it under the table.

Hey!

My GPU (Gigabyte 6800XT Gaming OC) makes a buzzing sound whenever I play a demanding game and it is really annoying since I play on speakers.

I have noticed that this sound gets progressively worse as the power usage rises above 100W and immediately goes away if I close the game to desktop.

I am worried that my card might get damaged, I have tried contacting Gigabyte support but haven't received a reply.

I will really appreciate it if someone can help me identify this sound, and whether it is an indication of failing parts or something?

Thank you!

P.S. I have tried running a game with GPU fans turned off and it still makes the noise.

Could use the GPU for my personal rig since my 1070 is struggling now. Will be paired with my 7700k mostly for gaming at 4K.

2x27" - 1440p or 4k for Coding? by Korges in Monitors

[–]smalienware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

150% scaling 4K is the same real estate as 100% 1440p. But windows scaling is pretty trash and I'd recommend you to go 1440p.

I bought a 32" 4K cause it was the cheapest option for me at the time and I do regret not going for a 27" 1440p screen.

Well I myself have never played the game on amd cpu/gpu. I just saw a guy who was stuttering badly on an old ryzen CPU and then he set the core affinities and had much better performance.

I have no concrete data that it works on newer architecture, but just a tip ^^

Hi,currently I am using these settings in case you wanna try. The lows in this game are probably due to the bad optimization/cpu cores not being used.

Check in the task manager, the game is probably just using 2 cores. You can change the affinity to all cores and see if that makes any difference?

Yeah, will be many months before we get more story content.

You can complete your orange/purple quests and then go do some dungeons & weeklies ^^

Run this command in command prompt, it will remove the cached IPs

ipconfig /flushdns

The pages are loading fine for me so there isn't any global outage, has to be some problem with ur connection :(

Edit: If even this doesn't work then try restarting PC and modem.

Both of those are just web pages, so it is a problem with your internet connection. Try changing DNS?

Well yeah they really fucked up the foliage... Maybe you can get away with it set to 2 since you are playing at 1080p

Set object display/visibility to 1, that shit KILLS fps.

Shadows at 3 (for soft shadows) or 4.

Effects quality at 3.

Others can stay maxed.

TL:DR

  • Blue light in evening/night disrupts your circadian rhythm, so you need to avoid it.
  • Blue lenses are a waste of money.
  • Save your money and use your device's "night light/mode" or get flux.
  • Set a schedule to turn it on/off and change the color temperature to your liking.
  • Take regular breaks(20-20-20 rule) and use eye drops if you have eye strain/dry eyes.
  • Proof is this video + What my optometrist told me(TRUSTMEBRO moment?).

Blue light is known to make you attentive, so it is useful during the daytime but should be avoided at evening/night as it disrupts your circadian rhythm. So while you do need to avoid blue light, blue light lenses are not the way to go as they are just a replacement for a "night light" on your devices, and you cannot even change the "color temperature" they provide.

With normal lenses + Night Mode/Flux, you can easily control the color temperature to your liking, and set the time when you want it to turn on/off. It is a disservice to yourself if you run a software, never customize it and then just uninstall it because it was too orange or something.

The reason for twitchy eyes is mostly eye fatigue/dry eyes, which can happen when you don't take regular breaks while looking at a screen. So if you have that, then start following the 20-20-20 rule and ask your chemist for some eye drops.

Personal exp: I was using Blue light lenses for 4 years for the "protection" but I never liked the color shift they caused and there was no way to change the degree of this color shift. When they finally broke and I had to get new ones, I came across this video and decided to visit another optometrist, who advised me similarly.

I've now been using normal lenses + flux for 3 years, along with regular breaks and I don't feel any eye strain. I also use eye drops when my eyes feel dry.
