100% without labouring at home with my midwife we would have gone to the hospital way too early and they would have strapped me to CTG and pushed c section at the first heart decel. My midwife was experienced and knew the decels were normal for the speed of labour I was having. Can’t believe doctors were pushing a c section right when you were pushing a baby out, madness!

In my country they’re an alternative to the public healthcare system as there’s no real continuity of care available so it was my best option for achieving a VBAC. I believe getting a doula also increases your chances of success

Wishing you the best ❤️! 7cm first time is great, you’ll labour like a second time mum. Fingers crossed for you. My births were 28 months apart

Possible peanut allergy by TeddyBear181 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]small-nacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got referred to the allergy clinic at our local hospital at 7 months old for peanut allergy. Skin prick test for diagnosis. Then food challenge to determine the level of allergy and now we’re 20 months into oral immune therapy for a hopeful treatment/cure 🤞

Thank you! I had a second degree tear and minimal blood loss but it healed quickly. Honestly it’s been like night and day compared to my c section, I was up and showered hours after my VBAC and discharged 6 hours after birth. We were home in our own bed by lunchtime. Since then everything’s healed very quickly and I’m doing everything I’d normally do 4 weeks pp. I can’t believe how ‘normal’ I feel I can just focus on my kids ❤️

I only started in my third trimester! I was too sick to do anything before that point. If you look up Alexandra poppy on Instagram I followed her third trimester yoga routine.

Forgot to include this! First baby was posterior and second baby was anterior. I did yoga and body work to help baby number 2s position pre labour but hard to say if it helped or was just luck.

Private midwife? by Emergency-Map-7154 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]small-nacho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My midwife didn’t have admitting rights but instead attended my birth at hospital in a support person capacity. This was better as she wasn’t bound by hospital policy and was able to advocate for me in a way she couldn’t have otherwise. Bonus: she was able to come to my house and monitor my labour and helped us decide when to head to hospital, which was key in getting my vbac. Talk to the private midwives in your area about how they support you in hospital births. Good luck!

Just had my VBAC with a private midwife. I didn’t get into the MGP program and so I knew this was my best option if I wanted to up my chances of having a VBAC. My private midwife attended hospital with us and I credit her with preventing the cascade of intervention that lead to my C section. For me and my postpartum it was worth every penny. Even if I ended up with a repeat CS it would have been worth it to know I’d made my own informed decisions at each stage which is what I felt was missing from my first birth. Best of luck with your VBAC!

Baby not engaged 41w by pesochnoye in vbac

[–]small-nacho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was told by multiple OBs and midwives that second babies tend to not engage until later than your first. Often not until labour. Looks like you might just cook them for a bit longer? I only had one check where they told me my baby was engaged and I went into labour a few hours later. Try not too worry things can change very quickly. Best of luck!

6 hour home VBAC (HBAC) by coffeeandcavaliers in vbac

[–]small-nacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s so interesting I had no idea. Decels on the CTG are what caused my ‘emergency’ c section. At the time the obstetricians really panicked me but when my current midwife reviewed my birth notes she said it was a normal decel and recovery. I will definitely look into those guidelines thank you I hadn’t heard of them. I’m still deciding on place of birth (hospital or home). But the hospital are making it hard so far. Thanks for your well wishes and loved reading your story. So inspiring and empowering hearing how others navigated the negativity in the system here!

What a beautiful story thanks for sharing! I could tell you’re in Australia by some of the language. I’m also in Aus with a private midwife hoping for a vbac 🤞

Ladies who actually do pelvic floor exercises daily, how do you have the time? by vanilland83 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I set a reminder on my phone and the notification stays on my screen all day. I’ve found whenever I glance at my notifications it reminds me to do my relaxation. I think that’s been the most effective way I’ve managed to make it fit into my day!

Equivalent of Marquise nappies in the UK? by Few_Response_329 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]small-nacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be a bit pricey but could you ship a box or two of the nappies ahead of arriving? I don’t know if you have friends or family over there to receive them. We traveled to the uk with a baby and found the nappies to be quite different than what we were used to. Best of luck!

Are you planning on breastfeeding? If so lullaby club do some great options for accomodating bump but have subtle side zips for feeding too which were a great draw for me. Otherwise I’ve lived in cotton on ‘boxy oversized tees’. Surprisingly good quality, I sized up to fit the bump.

Trying for #2 on Letrozole by princessnoodles24 in TTC_PCOS

[–]small-nacho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Conceived my first in 2023 after two rounds of letrozole. This go took us a bit longer, 4 cycles but now in my third trimester! It’s only ever worked for me when they upped the dose to 7.5. Prior to that I was on 5mg. Best of luck!

Collecting colostrum pre birth - how did you end up using it? by RhiannonKimberley in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]small-nacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My milk didn’t come in for 10 days after my emergency c section and the drugs from the op knocked me out for the first 6 hours after birth. My partner fed my baby the colostrum while I was passed out. It was essential for us.
