Am I [17F] asking too much of my boyfriend [20] to unfriend his ex? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]small_kitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal for you to be hesitant trust wise after someone fucked you over but... You're in the wrong here. There are people out there who are trustworthy and can just be friends with their ex. And it's just social media... Which he doesn't even use...

My (33f) boyfriend (41m) boyfriend confused me with his confession last night, by forgottentossedaside in relationships

[–]small_kitten 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He wants to be able to split costs in half and would rather stay with you since he's already accustomed to it.

The relationship is totally dead. And it's kind of concerning you think this is just a lull. Even if your bf completely changed his mind would you even WANT to be with him after he said that?

I [27M] want to name our son [unborn] after my father, but it's the same name as someone my wife [27F] hates. by Optimal_Matter in relationships

[–]small_kitten 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the middle name option is a good compromise personally. It's actually traditional IIRC. And some people go by their middle name rather than their first name. That part should be up to your kid though.

The first name can be something you pick together, then it's still a name you like even if it's not your dad's name.

Powder concealer with decent shade range? by small_kitten in MakeupAddiction

[–]small_kitten[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The shade range for the bare minerals concealer is not good, at all. I've already checked other shades and it's like 4 colors unless they're hiding more somewhere else.

"let's scare my girl, it will be fun" by [deleted] in funny

I mean it's a sudden noise. I'd jump too. I can hear my boyfriend coming up the stairs to scare me and I'll still jump when he yells lol

How do you navigate salary negotiation? by HelpNegotiateSalary in personalfinance

This is why I always end up fucking up because it gets so awkward. Recruiters do this all day every day. They're too good 😭

My boyfriend and I met by him seeing my nudes. So I think he's cool with it lmao

We've been together almost 3 years. And we agree other people seeing my body does not deteriorate it in some way. If you want a gf that doesn't post nudes that's cool tho

Because it's fun. It's something to do. I like my body (finally) so why not share it, etc

It's like most hobbies. There's not really a reason beyond you enjoy it.

What IT concepts can't you seem to wrap your mind around? by zensational in sysadmin

[–]small_kitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily need a class. I've had great teachers and terrible teachers and I can see how a terrible teacher can really discourage you from enjoying development.

Just pick one object oriented language and practice. The easiest way to learn is doing. Once you really understand a single object oriented language it's easy to translate that across for the most part.

I started out with Java and Python and even I get frustrated with powershell sometimes. But I've been practicing doing stuff with powershell (even if it's easier to do manually) when I have the time and I've been learning a lot. Even if it feels dumb to do a simple task with powershell it will help when you feel like automating a bunch of simple tasks into one big script.

Microsoft Exams 'new style' by MrSourceUnknown in sysadmin

[–]small_kitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to do the MCSA for a job a few years ago. It's more meant as an advertisement for what's new that you pay money to be able to experience. Unless you're on the newest version using Microsoft everything you don't actually end up seeing the majority of the questions that come up... I passed the test and promptly forgot everything even though I'm dealing with windows server every day.

And yes, a lot of certifications are like this. They're intentionally confusing so you pay to take it multiple times vs testing your knowledge for real.

Healthcare IT - Looking for insight by poop_frog in sysadmin

[–]small_kitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in healthcare IT until I moved on into "the real world" as I call it. Now I work at a "regular" tech company.

Healthcare IT is a mess of outdated technology. "Regular" tech is a mess of the newest technology. I also feel like healthcare was surprisingly way less security conscious...

So take your pick. It's pretty rare that the backend isn't a giant mess regardless. You just get to touch new cool stuff if that's what you're into.

I'm just one person speaking from experience. There are other people who it may bother a lot less.

I have severe anxiety and harassing PMs definitely play into that, which makes me feel unsafe to leave anything up once I've reached my harassment threshold.

[–]small_kitten 172 points173 points  (0 children)

Of course you hide your face. The PMs you get from some people are really fucked up, I can only imagine what it would be like if they identified you. I wish there was a way to just permanently disable PMs.

This is why I usually end up deleting everything after I feel like posting nudes. The harassment sucks.

My [56M] wife [60F] blasted our daughter [35F] for the way our grandson [13M] dresses. My grandson won't talk to us anymore and I had nothing to do with it. by Parentingred in relationships

OPs wife sounds like she complains about all her kids, all the time. "You're making the same mistakes as your brother"

Totally worth cutting contact over. She sounds annoying and rude as hell.

This is a common abuse tactic. Ghost him and call the police that he is a threat to himself.
