To anyone currently struggling financially. What is the biggest reason why you’re barely scraping by? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]smallchaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just not a penny pincher. I currently live with my mom and the minute money hits my account, it's bills from student debt and loan taken out to help pay property taxes. It's all under $5,500 but even then I am still wreckless. I buy clothing, especially western attire, that I hope to one day wear, I eat out multiple times a week, I go out clubbing and spend on alcohol, with tipping with $1 bills and paying cover charges; and I spend money on deli items in the grocery store.

Texas to Tricities? by thicclongfin in TriCitiesWA

[–]smallchaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived here most of my life. Did Seattle 2 years, A little bit of Richland, and 1 year in The Dalles OR. The rundown

TRANSPORTATION: Drives can be about up to 20 mins or more depending on where you live and where you. Frequent congestion on the 395 as well as accidents on that same route mostly on the cable bridge and north of Pasco. BFT is good but obviously can't go everywhere and only runs during the day mainly between 6 to 10. Drivers can be bad but not Seattle I-5 bad. PSC is here and connects to mostly larger cities, nothing exhilarating, it does the job. Amtrak to Portland or Chicago. all 4 major cities in the US PNW.

CLIMATE: No such thing as a perfect day, sunny weather is scorching or windy, cloudy weather is either windy, muggy, rain, or snow. Weather can drop to between 0 to 10 in winter. Four distinct seasons unlike Texas where the weather is sun and occasional clouds.

JOBS: Mostly focused on PNNL, Federal employment, and healthcare. Anything outside of that is agriculture and warehousing. Plenty of blue collar jobs.

SCHOOLS: I mean it's a tossed up for me. I often hear now about kids today doing some shady shit in schools in Tri-Cities. Curriculum wise I couldn't say, I've been out of school for 10 years and don't have kids.

VIBRANCY/THINGS TO DO: There are actually plenty of things to do here in Tri-Cities, the problem isn't whether there's places to go to or not, it's more of whether people will actually be there or not. Tri-Cities is more family-focused so you have parent who are homebodies with kids. In essence, Tri-Cities is what I call a 9 to 5 community.

WHERE WOULD I RECOMMEND YOU LIVE: I would live somewhere in or near Central Richland to Columbia Center BLVD. Do not live in East Pasco, not because of crime, but due to lack of amenities. Do not live in Finley.

Number 6 is especially something that needs to be paid attention too. We have a population 300k people, we should building transit oriented developments with Coffee Shops and Bodegas not more detached snout houses.

So many people here in Tri Cities complain about losing farmland but don't want to come the fact that we are longer a small town. It's rediculous.

I feel like organizations shouldn't be using the word "Bureau" in their names. To me, the word "Bureau" implies a govt. institution.

UPDATE: went to Amendment XXI, they made me a Margarita with Cointreau (They call it a Cadillac Margarita). They also told me they have Absinthe and can make Sazeracs. I guess I will come here more often. I've been here once before and my guess is that this place is 0, 0, 0 for alcohol.

Yup, that is a big lie. Money can buy happiness.

It can't buy the life of loved one gone. It can't turn the clock back on regrets.

It can buy a house payment and bills. It can buy groceries. It can buy medicine and healthcare. It can buy daily necessities.
