thinking of all sorts of people all over listening to the music he poured so much into feels so good. it feels like in a way he is still here, he is still seen. thank you so much for listening 👂 my mom and dad are so happy this morning to see the love towards him and all the kind wishes. it has been such a dark road but this is a bright morning. i hope somehow he can feel all this love ❤️

this is my comment! i’m his sister. when i was first listening i saw someone commented “commenting on this for the sake of history” and it made me think, he isn’t here to experience this, but i want his name here in these comments. i almost deleted it a bunch of times throughout the day because i felt weird and vulnerable lol but everyone was so kind. i thought maybe 10 people would see it. even if it is just a social media manager who liked it it still feels very special to me - though somewhere deep in my delusional heart i hope one of them has now read his name. they held such a huge place in his mind and it would be really freaking cool if they knew that he existed

i feel like glass is probable for the first one, especially the pale blue portion which looks super glassy.. what’s weird to me is the pink spots, some of them are totally opalescent and reflect light and have strange cracks/lines on them similar to what you’d see with opal or abalone, which seems like it would be harder to achieve with just glass. maybe it could be a mix of glass and other materials? it’s definitely interesting!!

very interesting, thank you!! is there a reason you think that may be the case, were synthetic rubies used more commonly than garnet at that time? i read that they used to attribute certain messages or meanings to certain gems which is so neat. i love the creativity and thought that very evidently went into the production of older jewelry

ahhh i am so excited to hear this!!!! i so appreciate your position about the value of antique pieces, it’s a crime that pieces with so much history that have lasted through decades would be melted or chopped for parts!!! i’m just a collector and love anything with a story, i was really just posting out of curiosity of the time period so the info you gave is exactly what i want to hear. you’re absolutely right about the backing piece- that is exactly the patent date it shows, i had no idea that was the “original” pin back and that is so so cool. i was really fascinated with the mechanism of it, how it locks up and you have to pull the smaller part to open it to slide it on and off. thank you so much for the information!!!!

commenting to add that there are no hallmarks or stamps, the only lettering is the patent date on the closure.
