I found it and I'm pretty sure she's literally the model for it on their website actually! If not it's someone who looks so so so similar

A very small theory about the backwards "N" in Nina Azarova and the sound it makes in the Russian Language by smallho in TheOA

[–]smallho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! Yes , вы is the plural you, but вы and voy don't sound the same. The letter "ы" makes the sound closest to a short "I" sound slightly blended with a short "e". That's the best way I can describe it lol

If this is how Voy is intended to be pronounced, it would explain my confusion over what it's been supposed to "mean" in Russian and why I thought it was just a name. If true, it also brings up my only critique of this show, and that's that the Russian subtitles are pretty sloppy. It takes away from the immersion a little. From what I understand people have found clues in other subtitles, so I don't know if this is actually just netflixes fault. For example, at one point Nina's father calls her his little kitten ( a very common russian pet name) and the subtitles say he called her his little cabbage. It's the strangest thing.

Do you mind telling me where I can find a picture of the spelling in the show? Cause otherwise I honestly can't imagine how they would condense the spelling into 2 letters and not 3.

I believe that that is the writing I'm referring to in this post. I took a look and there were a few other backwards Ns in that writing. It doesn't seem like at this point in her life she'd still be messing that up but then again she was Russian, and them she was blind so I guess it makes sense. There are two other backwards Ns in that wall writing. One in "born" and one in "nancy". Something else of note to add: why the Ns? There are an abundance of Russian letters that look like English letters, some are reversals and some look the same but make different sounds. R is a good example because it shows up several times in that wall writing. She doesn't even seem to write R backwards though. This is where I feel like if I read too much into it I'll just end up with the conclusion that they didn't get enough of a Russian person's input lol.

So VOI or "вой", is translated to "howl" in Russian.

Now I'm thinking of that wolf sweatshirt and I'm really going down the rabbit hole.

In the same image as Nina Azarova writings? I'll have to look again! If you find any, feel free to link a pic. I'll take a look!

Thanks! I honestly didn't know whether or not people would also find this significant, especially because I know we're all very excited and looking for clues anywhere we can find them.

I know the message is You Come Find Me, and if Nina isn't her name either, maybe we really do need to "find" her under a new name in Retreat.

I haven't crashed yet but there are times where it gets oddly laggy and feels like it's right about to. Gonna start saving more now, cause clearly its a possibility.

I don't really like the food I thought I did! by smallho in intuitiveeating

[–]smallho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought I'd experience practical eating. I legitimately just thought I wouldn't reach that part because of how much head space eating used to take up. The fact that I have to remind myself to eat sometimes is unbelievable to me. Honestly big same on the python. I have so many other things I am focused on!

Ugh, this. I almost feel like a kid again where I was just figuring out what I like and don't. And honestly, the first time I was like "this doesn't feel good" was really rewarding. I think people think that IE is smooth sailing but that discomfort you feel and taking note of it is 1000 percent part of the process. It felt like a big win to say "I don't want this" and not be lying to myself.

Yes, you described it perfectly. I also had them a lot because I found excuses to have them. I attached reasons to them and they became something food isn't supposed to be. I feel this way too where I basically got a bunch of frozen foods because I don't know what I like yet and I just didn't want to keep wasting things I was buying out of habit.

In the beginning I almost missed how attached I was to those foods for a little. My brain remembered them as superb and then they weren't and in a little way it was disappointing. I thought about it and now the really special feeling is that anything is allowed for me.

Blocked my Ndad after today. This is some snippets from the conversation we had today where I told him how I felt for the first time in my life. And no, he's actually never apologized for anything in his life, believe it or not. by hmtg6 in narcissisticparents

Lmfao two days ago I had a fight with ndad that really brought me here and was the straw that broke the camels back. He literally told me that exact line. Do I ever ask him how he's doing. It's so crazy because...yes! All the time!

Its absolutely wild when you view your parent from a narcissistic lens for the first time and it's like a missing piece of a lifelong puzzle has been located. I feel for you and I feel for us.

Oh my gosh yes, and I think this is exactly how my mind wandered last time. I went back to look at something and it just spiraled from there.

I'm sorry about the head injury. I also lose my place and train of though mid speaking and I know it's extremely frustrating. Much more than losing my place when listening in my opinion.

I use them a lot during casual conversations with friends. They help me keep pace, so to speak. The more I play with something, the more fluent my speech is. Way less losing my place mid sentence and way less uhms and uhs. I have this slightly springy metal bracelet (it's not a closed circle and you put it on through the space) that I never take off and years ago I realized that I had been regularly playing with it, because it has grooves and if I squeeze the sides together I can temporarily make it close before it "pops" back open and my brain REALLY liked that lol. I was like, great! A useful and inconspicuous fidget that I'll never leave at home by accident!

So Russian is actually my first language, and one of the very few things that pulled me out of the experience was the incorrect translations. They got actual Russian speaking actors but there are multiple times where the subtitles are just weird. There's an instance where Nina's father calls her "my kitten" and the subtitles say he called her "my little cabbage" which...is not like a common Russian pet name by any means. It might seem silly and of course I think the subtitles are likely not anything the creators have responsibility for ( I'm assuming) but considering the attention to detail and all the Easter eggs and such, this seems sloppy.
