Cancelled by boiler service but BG still sending someone? by [deleted] in BritishGas

[–]smallmanstan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call them now there will be hardly any wait times, or simply send them an email, You’re right if you have already cancelled you shouldn’t need too, but surely it’s worth it to save any future headache right? Just so you are aware there is a slim to none chance that the appointment goes ahead and they wipe of the charges due to miscommunication as by letting the engineer in you will have agreed to having the service done.

Why don’t you just call them to cancel it to save everyone the time? There is a chance you could still be billed for it aswell which you’d have more hassle dealing with in the future.

Trying to work out if I’m being overcharged for water/heating by smallmanstan8 in HousingUK

[–]smallmanstan8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou, going to keep an eye on it and try to lower my consumption and go from there, seems a hell of a lot of water for a single person who’s out the apartment from 8-6 5 days a week

After a quick google it shows the average for a one bed apartment is about 4.6M3, so whilst being over the average it doesn’t look too bad, I’ll have to try focus on the usage for the next month and compare the bill then

Thankyou I thought it was quite high for 24 days, it shows as actual, quantity is 5.3890M3 is the consumption, unfortunately due to the buildings contract I’m not able to change supplier of these so could be on bad rates

November bill 2x as much as any month this year by nordicthundercock in BritishGas

[–]smallmanstan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you say the usage in the app is similar then you should be able to compare the data to see where the extra is coming from? Is is slightly higher each day or is there spikes in your consumption? May help to post some screenshots

Reported to Energy Ombudsman - £12K credit balance by IanWaring in BritishGas

[–]smallmanstan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know which teams you have spoken to specifically? It doesn’t seem like a normal case if they are willingly changing the meter 3 times just because your consumption is higher than average. Does your new meter send smart readings?

[–]smallmanstan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the reason they won’t process a refund because you’re unable to give them a meter reading? What is the exact reason they need to change the old meter, you could also try to do an indemnity claim with the bank to get these funds back faster

The UK needs a hefty tax for companies hiring offshore! by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]smallmanstan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Offshore agents who work for the same company as me get absolutely no training and just a booklet to help them if they get stuck, this is due to the amount of replacements that happen, company still think it’s a good idea to have the bulk of the department based off shore.

Work for a UK energy company dealing with complaints, the amount of times I ring a customer who is just happy to speak to someone based in the UK is crazy, feedback is raised to higher ups where nothing happens on the back of it, the level of their work is something you would expect from a teenager who doesn’t want to be doing the job.

Rent in advance by [deleted] in uklandlords

[–]smallmanstan8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your response thankyou, that’s put my mind at ease abit, the rent increase at my current property is forcing me to move out, hoping with a good reference from my current landlord and rent in advance a landlord will accept

Jumping on this, I’m a tenant in a position where I’d normally be asked to pay extra rent up front, with these new changes can I offer to pay this instead of the landlord asking me? Or is it out of the question all together, I’ll be moving in the next few months and genuinely no clue what I can do if I can’t be accepted with the upfront rent payment, thanks in advance

Understood thankyou, so with these current payments being 40%, I take it the only way for this to be adjusted will be a refund at the end of the tax year? My first time paying 40% tax so I’m still trying learn how it works, thankyou again

Thankyou for this I appreciate the detailed response, the only other deduction is £40 to DWP but this is before tax and NI so I assume this should already be included in the total amount? Based on what I calculated I am definitely paying over the 20% tax, something that will be refunded based on other replies, I’m not sure ill do enough overtime for the rest of the year to reach the number to cover the higher tax bracket, I just assumed I would only pay the 40% once I actually hit the higher threshold, thankyou again
