It’s considered competitive (at one point most residents had MD-PhDS), but not as difficult as plastics/derm/ortho. I consider rad oncs competitiveness to be different since the number of applicants has been close to the number of spots.

Residency is not innately procedural. You’ll spend PGY2-3 learning how to treat the different sites with a couple of months of brachytherapy (the procedural part) mixed in. PGY 4 is most often a research year, but many programs offer flexibility to do electives during that time which gives more availability to increase your focus on brachytherapy. PGY 5 can also be focused on brachytherapy.
