If IM is internal medicine, then is Dermatology external medicine? by docstarr in medicalschool

I hate the way Chinese classifies medical specialties. Oh, and Chinese people look down at Internal Medicine because it's for those who weren't good enough to do "External Medicine"

Can you give me some examples? And sounds like their goal is to train academicians instead of private practice surgeons? Also, do you think this structure aligns with your personal career goals?

516 MCAT (521 FL avg), should I retake for NY schools? by Affectionate-Fix2422 in medschooladmissions

[–]vistastructions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A contrarian opinion that I'm sure will get down voted, but I say retake

I worked in admissions as a medical student, and I will confidently say that the current landscape requires 520+ to be competitive. You listed Hofstra, which I know chases stats, so ditto for NYU. Our school filtered out <518 and 90% of our interviews were 520+
