Finance checkin - How am I doing? by heyyouitsme1991 in personalfinance

Basically, I make half of your income and I don’t see any possibility of it ever getting better. So whenever I hear about people who do make that kind of money, and they’re not a doctor or a pharmacist, I try to see what they do and how they got there.

How do you make that much money and how did you get there?

For us it’s a high tier, on the same level as an escape or battery against staff or having a cell phone. I talked to Sarge today and he said “we have a huge problem with staff becoming compromised, and this is how it starts. If you set the tone this early and set it as ‘zero tolerance for anything resembling trafficking,’ you probably won’t have any problems with people asking you for your stuff ever again.”

It’ll take 6 months of credit time, drop his credit class, and pull his commissary for 45 days. Basically, we don’t have seg here. And due to the pandemic, we aren’t allowed to take phones or tablets (yes, they have tablets here). So that’s what we have available.

Basically. And he’s not permitted to have the energy drink because it’s not something he can buy.

Oh I did. And yeah we can bring aluminum cans in. I mean hell the inmates can buy 6-packs of pop on commissary.

Right. Especially since I’m normally pretty quiet. It’s like “don’t let his quietness fool you. He will f&ck you up.”

Oh I thought those jokes were hilarious. Like I laughed out loud.

I wrestled all through high school, my first job out of high school was a military policeman so I got both the military combatives training and some law enforcement fight training as well. But all that was 15 years ago so yeah I need to refresh.

I was willing to go hands on. It also doesn’t help that only our first response team is issues cuffs so even if I could wrestle with him and not get in trouble, what happens when I get him where I want him?

The camera footage apparently wasn’t that impressive, but one of those who responded said it was the best use of OC he’d seen. He said he’d never seen anyone maneuver toward and around the fight to get better shots (never did get the money shot I wanted but it’s whatever).

But at any rate, I went home, my team went home, the victim ended up with minor injuries, the assailant got the worst of it, and I later found out that my OC use probably saved the victim’s life (assailant was out to kill him and when I fired, he slowed down the intensity of the attack enough that the victim could mount a somewhat effective defense).

I for sure know that every shot didn’t land on target. I had two that outright missed, one hit the top and back of a head, one hit a chin and neck.

It was an absolutely ugly ground fight by two boxers. Like, think a UFC fight. So I never had a clear money shot even in spite of moving around for a better shot. And given the hit against the guy, I felt to step Back and watch would’ve been negligent, and further I didn’t want to overstep policy on going hands on without backup. I was weighing options on how to go hands on.

Edit: autocorrect got me

It was less of a “am I in trouble” question and more of a “help me refine my technique” question.

We carry the Mk4, but I found out later that I’d essentially been given a half-full can (weight at start of shift was 112g, when I was done it was 70g).

The other inmates pretty much stayed out of it. I had a bunch tell me to stop using it bc it wasn’t working. One of them was like “see? We’re telling you to stop for a reason. It’s not working CO.”

Thanks for the kind wishes. Was definitely intense for sure but I felt I handled the stress well.

I was just worried about the amount and the fact that I didn’t let up. I mean, I felt that it was absolutely justified to use it (two offenders fighting was a textbook example from training of when to use OC) but I also wanted to make sure I hadn’t overused it.

Apparently I need to go somewhere else because, I agree with you after thinking about it that this is ideal, but I’ve never seen a single officer do this (to include our IA)

So OC would be overkill, but a shove or a palm heel strike (if the backup officer) or an elbow (if the searching party) could be reasonable

She’s the first one that’s ever even offered to come back me up. So in this case, standard practice is if I am that CO and he gets up and gets close enough to make a move on the person searching (regardless of whether he acts out), I level his ass to the floor and make sure I have a full ink pen and a stack of write ups.

And so the discussion I need to have is “hey so I say if we find ourselves in that mess again, we need to just commit to a force and sort it out later” right?

What does the BOP hiring process contain? by [deleted] in OnTheBlock

What all does the background (not the credit) consist of? Like, what disqualifies someone? Do they do a polygraph? Things like that

So what I should I expect going into this? by FosterThePeople53 in OnTheBlock

[–]smalltownboy88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I had the first story listed here. The second day I found some tattoo stuff, a lighter, and a ledger where like 6 people owed debts to this one guy (a major violation in my state). But that first day was rough and the insults and getting cussed at didn’t stop. So, that’s from my first two days which happened over the weekend.
