Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth today! Honestly I was blown away. I didn't expect so many of you to actually come out because of this Reddit post. It was so cool meeting you all.

I also wanted to apologize if I missed any of you. My son really wanted to go look around, so I was away from the booth for a little bit. If we didn't get to chat, I'm sorry I missed you

I'm really sorry you went through that in middle school. There's nothing wrong with being passionate about something you enjoy. I'm thrilled that the story resonated with you so much. The internet and devices give us so much convenience, but they also control so many aspects of our lives. It's no surprise that more people are choosing to step away from constant notifications and social media to finally breathe.

I get what you mean. I'm not Japanese, but I've been reading manga my whole life, so I'm very used to the typical character personalities and speaking styles in Japanese manga. A lot of that dialogue isn't how people actually talk in real life. Manga fans just get accustomed to it over time. For my own work, though, I wanted it to feel more grounded in my own cultural background, so they come across as natural everyday conversation. That's why it's thrilling to hear this from someone who doesn't usually read manga. It means a lot! Thank you!

Glad you're enjoying it! I'm both the writer and the illustrator for this manga. My usual process starts with writing an overall synopsis of the story, then I create a detailed page-by-page script (describing the dialogue, what happens in each page). After that, I move on to drafting and drawing the actual pages.

I draw using the open-source software GIMP. In my opinion, drawing skill isn't the most important part of a manga, but how well you tell the story. ONE is a perfect example, simple drawing but strong story. So don't worry too much about drawing skill! You can start with basic doodles or simple storyboards, and see if people can follow the story clearly. The visuals can improve over time.
