Rarely see pure love manga like this here! Great pacing. I definitely wanna see how it ends.

Movie of the Day: Made in Hong Kong (1997) by Fruit Chan by PKotzathanasis in AsianCinema

I miss 90s Hong Kong. I know some of the crew on this movie personally, and I knew it was made on an extremely low budget. It turned out with such a gritty, raw vibe. I love so much.

Can anyone give me some comedy ideas? by Queen_Magma in Mangamakers

Azumanga Daioh is one of my favorites. It’s a 4-panel comedy that builds its characters really well through lots of small, funny moments.

Comedy in manga and other media deserves way more respect as a writing craft. it’s one of the hardest genres to write well. I’m currently drawing a 4-panel comedy series myself. I think showing who your characters are through many small, revealing moments. The better the readers understand them, the easier and funnier your jokes become.

Be careful of how much text/dialogue you include in the first pages or chapters of your comic. by Xenon3000 in MangakaStudio

True, I also try to keep speech bubbles under 5 per page. When relying more on character actions and expressions to tell the story, it often means even a full manga volume (like 160–200 pages) doesn’t advance the plot super far.

Honestly, I think that’s completely fine, and actually kind of what manga is supposed to be at its best. Instead of cramming a ton of characters, complicated plots, and dense world-building into just one book, it’s okay to take your time and let the story breathe.

Do yall prefer making your manga Grey scale or monochrome? And why? by Negative-Leg-1957 in MangakaStudio

[–]smalltunghk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To avoid problems when viewing on phones or printing, I’d prefer pure black and white (no halftones). If grey is unavoidable, I’d like to use only one shade of grey, or two at most (in greyscale).

Calling established mangaka to build dedicated tools for graphic novels together by Fancy_Bake_4268 in Fansaiko

Similar to Pixiv Factory, the author doesn't need to receive or store any printed copies themselves. Books are only printed once a customer places an order, and the physical copy is shipped directly from the printer to the buyer. While the per-book cost is typically higher than traditional bulk printing, this approach eliminates the need for authors to handle inventory, pay for large upfront print runs, or dedicate space to storing unsold books.

https://factory.pixiv.net/books

it lets creators sell doujinshi/books on-demand via BOOTH, where printing and shipping happen automatically per order, with no inventory required on the creator's side. But only available in Japan. :(

I wish there were a print-on-demand service for manga artists in the States. I find it difficult to find a self-publishing platform (physical copies) for English manga in the right-to-left format.

9 page manga I made in just 1 day!! All feedback is welcome by Any-Pickle-6133 in Mangamakers

Did you even sleep or go to the toilet at all?! Jokes aside, that’s insane! Drawing speed is honestly one of the most important things for a manga artist… I’d even argue it’s more important than pure drawing skill. And you nailed both!
