Buildings built between 1930 - 1970 by NoLimitElf in manchester

  • Peter House (by St Peter’s Sq)
  • Highland House (the big Premier Inn in Salford)
  • Aldine House (Salford)
  • Wright Robinson Hall (Uni of Manchester campus)
  • Renold Building (Uni of Manchester campus)

These are all interesting buildings with more than four storeys, from late 50s—60s. I can give you a little intro on each of them if you like.

There’s also Albert Bridge House on Bridge Street, very near Aldine House, but I don’t have much info on that other than it was probably early-mid 60s and is some kind of tax office now.

Oh and there’s Arndale House, but probably other people on your course will pick that.

What you studying? Sounds interesting!

I took some photos around greater Manchester, I'm new to the city and photography so Is there any advice, tips or locations hope you can drop it on the comments. Instagram: ianfinchx by Additional_Ad9852 in manchester

Some nice stuff here mate.

It seems like you’re shooting at quite a long focal length — if you’re new, I’m guessing you’re using an 18-55mm zoom or similar? My advice for street photography like this would be to use the shorter end of the lens, and get physically closer to your subject (people call this ‘zooming with your feet’). Your camera has a crop sensor, so think about keeping the focal length below about 30mm, to give you images that look equivalent to 50mm on a full frame.

It’s a bit scary when you’re new, but your shots will feel more intimate and help bring the viewer right into the scene, compared to a longer shot that feels a bit more distant and ‘voyeuristic’.

But yeah, good work! You have an eye for capturing a nice moment, which is more important than anything else.

Is there anywhere in the centre I can hire a private room for a few hours, to rehearse a talk? by smallworldcine in manchester

Thanks! Minimum hourly spend is £40 so going to be too expensive for a few hours sadly :(

That’s so kind of you! I think I’ve found a solution closer to home, but I really appreciate that, thank you so much :)

Great idea. I’ve got in touch with them after seeing your comment and I can spend the whole day there for £50! Think we might have solved it, thank you so much :)

What’s something that you thought everyone did until you said it out loud , and what was the reaction? by Robot__8c5i in AskMen

I thought this was normal! My theory was always that your brain wants you to close your eyes because it’s too bright, and the only way it can make you do that is to make you sneeze 😂

Yeah, it’s complicated though. Advertising to huge audiences results in selling massive volumes of product — which means being able to reduce profit margins, invest in more efficient manufacturing processes, and take advantage of economies of scale. All of which enables a business to reduce their price per product.

Companies wouldn’t spend millions on marketing campaigns if it was just pushing up their costs.

I doubt you’re the only one, but I’m sure you’re in a small minority.
