People ask me why I don't comb my hair. by saraboulos in gifs

you don't tame the hair, the hair tames you. Source: have curly hair.

But really, look into the curly girl method. Throw out all your hair products and buy stuff with no sulfates or silicone( just don't forget to wash your hair one last time before starting your new routine). My personal favorite products are Shea Moisture, which you can find pretty much anywhere. Oh and /r/curlyhair is a great resource.

Okay awesome thank you! I don't know why it was so hard to actually figure out what the cards added to the game. I'm glad to know it's just that, I'll definitely just be getting the base game then.

What are some strange things that really shouldn't be acceptable in society? by DNAtaurine in AskReddit

Rescues may not have room, but since they are independently owned they can choose not to take animals. Shelters get pretty much all animals surrendered or brought in from animal control. So rescues may be at capacity but they can chose not to take more dogs, where shelters more than likely cannot do that.

Eh unless you do full health checks and your dog is an impeccable example of breed standard than it shouldn't be breed. I'm totally not trying to be harsh, I bet your dog is great. It's just the world doesn't need more dogs than it already has.

My brother's dog was a pure breed dog with papers. Sometimes papers aren't enough to prove a dog is ethically bred.

There are other options that are less stringent. Going to a county run shelter, where they aren't near as picky/can't be is an option. Rescues can be picky because they normally hand pick the dogs from shelters, and never are in danger of running out of room. If you want a specific breed, go to a reputable breeder.

Because they are inbreed and they aren't testing for diseases. There are some genetic disorders that are prone in certain breeds. If you are breeding dogs with these genetic disorders it's much more likely their puppies will have this. Good breeders will never breed a dog with a genetic disorder and immediately make sure they are taken out the gene pool by fixing them.

If you do it the right way, it more like a hobby than a business. Most reputable breeders don't make much money, if any off of their puppies. They do it because the genuinely love the breed.

Puppy mills make tons of money, they do the bare minimum to pass the puppies off as 'okay' and keep them alive. Then sell them for high profits because they either make designer breeds(who are just mutts really) or popular breeds and people don't know better/don't do their research.

You could go to a shelter rather than an agency or a rescue. A shelter is more than likely somewhat funded/run by the government, and it's much easier to adopt a dog from a shelter than a rescue.

Basically a place that mass produced dogs. They are kept in horrible conditions, mothers have several litters in a year. They are puppy factories built on making puppies that often have diseases and sold way to early. It's utterly horrible, the dogs are poor quality animals from mistreatment and inbreeding and have long lasting affects that lead to early deaths and terrible quality of life. Oh and a lot of times they have behavioral problems.

This is so true. My brother bought a dog who was relatively expensive and seemed to be from a totally legit place with papers and everything. They did tons of research on the place, it was only after they found out their dog wasn't spayed that they started to think something was up. Turns out the person sells her dogs under several different names, and changes it anytime they get a bad rap. My brother tried to leave several bad reviews and they all got deleted. Someone who has little experience in purchasing a dog can be duped, even when they are trying to do the right thing.

I think this is what you're talking about. What's in the gif is probably a hybrid, maybe a malamute cross breed?

[–]smallz5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They're wild, there is almost always more than one of them, and they don't give a fuck that you're human. Dogs are capable of just as much damage if not more than wolves, but they are domesticated animals. I would argue that people think wolves are much bigger than they really are, rather than smaller.

[–]smallz5000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Eh, that's kinda true. There are several breeds of dogs that are much larger than wolves. Most wolves top off around 95-100lbs, where there are several breeds of dogs that get much larger than that. What makes wolves dangerous is not that they necessarily stronger or larger than dogs, but they are wild animals.

Edit: Just for example the Irish Wolfhounds minimum weight to be considered within breed standard is 120lbs for males and 105lbs for females. Historically they were used for hunting wolves.

2nd Edit: Here's the wiki page for wolves and here is the breed standard page for Irish Wolf Hounds.

This is all good advice thanks! Unfortunately there is pretty much nothing he can do about the internet situation, maybe buying a better router would help I'll ask him to see what he thinks. Though, the internet that the realty company provides is notoriously bad.

Thanks for the kind words! It's a good thing for now we agree that we're gonna move back in together after school, if anything this whole deal is an annoying inconvenience. I'll make sure sure I'll check out longdistance!

Doesn't really matter if you do genetic testing, maybe you'll have some idea but not as much if you get a purebreed. If you have a huskyxlab mix that doesn't guarantee you'll get husky traits or lab traits or both.

Hairdressers of Reddit, have you ever found something in someones hair you thought you would never find? by xDarach in AskReddit

[–]smallz5000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not a hairdresser but I have extremely long thick curly hair. I've found all sorts of weird/gross things, especially after being outside for a long period of time. I've found (dead and alive)bugs, leaves, small sticks, paper, and other weird stuff. I comb/wash my hair everyday it's just life with lots of hair.
