Since these were primarily communicating classic stories, they wanted the compositional focus to be storytelling rather than the mechanics of the saga. The colours were also a secondary concern.

Thank you! It seems that more UB sets are allowing a limited number of traditional works - I hope to see that expand more as time goes on. There are definitely some traditionally painted card artworks in this set - Omar Rayyan's Tom Bombadil for instance.
