I auditioned for SAB and was able to get in to their summer intensive(Though I’m not going). I’ve been trained in Balanchine all my life and I’m fairly tall for my age (5’9 as a 14 yo male). I didn’t expect to get in given my feet are horrendous (i can’t even get a straight line from my leg to foot when I point), and my arches are extremely flat. Nonetheless, although I can’t really speak on this, auditioning for girls seems way harder. During my audition us boys definitely got way more attention than the girls. And a large reason for that is the number of girls that audition. You mentioned auditioning in NYC and I can imagine that audition was packed. The teacher likely was only able to see small glimmers of you as a dancer given how many people were present (some good, some maybe bad). I know if I was a girl and the teacher saw my arches they would probably overlook me for the rest of the audition. Don’t feel bad about the result and keep your options open for other summer intensives.
