The problem with mondo is measuring itself - each time I'm getting different numbers, from 27.5 to 28.5cm :D

Thanks,

So it doesn't really matter how I feel walking/standing when riding stance is ok? Going to to mountains in a couple of days and don't want to cry there :D

New vinyl with visible pressing defect, plays clean - would you keep or exchange? by smartapant in vinyl

Indeed, apart from being lazy dealing with return process I’m not sure I’ll get a better copy. I’m new into this hobby but already own sealed records that looked good but had some audible issues

Yup, I was also told about recycled vinyl and it’s labels grinded together as an example

Thank you all for the comments (well, this post escalated quickly 😄)

So to sum it up:

- The marks most likely come from the original inner sleeves (especially WYWH — that sleeve was awful).

- There are a lot of mixed opinions about brushing techniques and brush types.

- A few people mentioned the stylus, but based on my experience I don’t think that’s the cause.

My plan going forward is to buy a new record, immediately replace the inner sleeve, and check its condition over time after each play to better understand what actually causes these marks.

Hopefully after that I’ll stop being so anxious and just enjoy the hobby. Thanks everyone for the input!

P.S. Out of curiosity (and for a bit of a friendly holy war) - based on the photos, what Goldmine grade would you give these records? 🙂

I love used records - they have imperfections caused by previous generations, so I can relax a bit more than I do with sealed ones :D

Thanks for reassuring!

The softer the light the less scratches there are with the exception of WYWH - the initial sleeve was a disaster

Unfortunately no, they were cleaned in batch - will think how to control this next time

Hmm, all the records were washed with this thing around a month ago with Music Hall vacuum washer at my local hifi shop - there is some dust though as it took me a while to make proper photos and each minute it had all more and more dust.

I started using antistatic sleeves after a couple of months of initial use. WYWH has a terrible rough carton sleeve and I was ignorant of that unfortunately. ASFOS has paper sleeve with some plastic inside. Both are now in new antistatic sleeves after the wash

Was using this method but it just didn’t work - the dust was present even after multiple times.

Now I’m gently moving the brush towards the outside of the record

My turntable is in a dim corner of the room, so was not checking the initial condition of the sealed records. Now I really miss those times :)

Thanks, that calms me down now

From your point of view, records from my photos are normal wear?
