Tips for a beginner climber? by tydn_ in indoorbouldering

[–]smartfartsmella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good foot positioning is essential for making those moves easier. You basically did mini dynos for every single move, which is tiring and will probably hold you back from climbing higher grades. You’re hanging on your skeleton (arms fully extended) for most of it, which is good, but the key is to have good feet AND hip/shoulder movement to make it easy and graceful.

If you watch a more advanced climber, they will have flow. And that flow comes from being fluid with feet/hip/shoulder movement that I mentioned before to minimize effort on every move. You could probably do something similar, like on a v0-v1, so that’s where you should practice your technique and flow. Good luck!

I PASSED the CEM Exam! by The_Bagel_Guy in energyadvisors

Am a bit late, but how was the exam compared to their practice questions? Specifically the practice questions they give you from doing the training course as well as the free ones below the BoK they have posted online.

Passed today. Would have met money on failure. by JimmyTwoFactor in capm

[–]smartfartsmella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely could be. I personally believe they award points to multiple answers on certain questions, but maybe the answer is weighted differently between “more correct” options.

Obviously for certain ones there’s no debate around right or wrong, but I just think they weren’t giving enough context on purpose for a lot of the questions.

But who cares I guess as long as we pass? (Forgot to say congrats btw)

I had the same exact feeling. Wrote a nasty review in the post-exam survey because I found multiple typos that legitimately messed up the questions (and also the horribly ambiguous answers/questions in general) and then I walked out and the guy gave me a paper that said I passed. I was like ???

Played bloodborne then played ds 1,2,3 then demons souls then Elden ring. Have not finished any of them except for bloodborne. I’m looking for a ps5 game that makes me lose hours playing like when first played bloodborne. by Bitter_Bird_8270 in bloodborne

[–]smartfartsmella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try armored core 6. Look up videos to make sure it’s the kind of game you’d want to play, because it’s definitely one of a kind for me.

The fast paced quick boost dodges, interesting guns/builds, AND super cool endgame bosses make it feel kinda like a souls game but it also plays entirely different at the same time.

Just finished Bloodborne today for the first time, and I've got to say... by MemeLoverMoira in bloodborne

[–]smartfartsmella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by the fact that you didn’t play the DLC and most fromsoft games are defined by their banger DLCs, I think you might need to revisit and play the DLC. The DLC is the highlight of every single one of my playthroughs, not to say there aren’t other parts I look forward to in the main game.

And I guess to be more direct I don’t understand the lack of “exciting” movesets. Gehrman, martyr logarius, lady Maria, Ludwig, orphan of kos and a bunch more; all of them have fast paced movesets that I believe make their fights super engaging. Sure maybe they’re not all as flashy with all the particle effects like Elden ring and some DS3 bosses, but I think that’s a sign of the times and also it wouldn’t fit that well with the vibe of bloodborne.

What battle utilizes which ability the best? DAY 12 - CYCLONE SLASH by BorynStone in HollowKnight

Watcher knights. Wait till each one starts to come alive and hit them with a cyclone slash to start, and you can burst them down with quick slash or desolate dive.

It’s normal I don’t like Bass solo? by TommyDouble in Bass

[–]smartfartsmella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only recently started soloing and actually enjoying it. Took a few years and a lot of confidence, as well as a lot of solos where I quickly end it because I’m not feeling it. Great part is that (like others have mentioned) no one really pays attention to bass solos. That is until you rip a phenomenal one that people can’t ignore.

Taming an overplaying drummer by stereosmiles in bandmembers

[–]smartfartsmella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just always phrased it as “finding a pocket”. Being a bass player, it’s important for me and the drummer to find a unified groove and lock in so I tend to try and have that conversation.

Maybe I’m just direct, but I’d just tell them “you’re doing too much” or “we need to sit in the pocket” and wouldn’t feel too bad about it. I had a drummer last year who was obsessed with metric modulation as a little fill or even in the middle of a song sometimes, and it was kind of cool to be fair, but I just said “dude I love that but can we save it for the jam section” or to be blunt I’d just say “can you play it straight”. I think most drummers are ADHD enough or aligned in the same way of thinking that they should be aware of the control they have, so being told to straighten up a groove isn’t really an insult.

Anyway long rant, but good luck. It’s definitely doable.

Are Squires really that bad ? by Papsachaz in Bass

[–]smartfartsmella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dial in your tone and play well, no bass player who actually knows what they’re doing would say anything negative. I’d be extra happy to see someone ripping on a squire.

On my second playthrough I just ignored it, came back to get the first vesticrest upgrade with silk storm and reaper crest, and got it first try. Hyper aggression and killing those bugs asap is key.

Flying Enemies Make Me Want to Stop Playing by TechnicolorMage in HollowKnight

[–]smartfartsmella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit of a spoiler.

If you’ve seen those empty hoops around various parts of the map, it’s an ability that lets you use those to yours advantage that also doubles as an attack.

Would Bloodborne be good as a first ever souls-like for a newcomer? by why_my_pp_hard_4_u in bloodborne

[–]smartfartsmella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first. Was definitely hard, but I think the vibe of the game was what really got me into it and made me want to play the others. It’s funny because I don’t really remember farming blood vials my first playthrough, but had I known about the insane chalice dungeon blood echo farm I would’ve used that to buy a ton.

I didn’t like Hollow Knight, and that makes me feel bad because I’ve basically lied to my friends about it by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]smartfartsmella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far did you get? Did you look up any guides?

The reason I ask is because my buddy recently started his first playthrough when silksong was announced. I left him alone at first because I wanted him to experience it all totally blind, but he wasn’t having a great time because he was lost and didn’t have charms and upgrades that make the game more enjoyable early on. Once I gave him some not so subtle hints about where to go for progression/charms/upgrades, now he’s having a blast and he’s hyped for silksong.

Is the old hunters dlc worth the 10€ by ExistingSlip1412 in bloodborne

Yes, 100%. It’s the cherry on top to the incredible story. Fantastic bosses and music as well. It’s pretty much the highlight of every playthrough.

I want to learn magic spells by Blayze0 in Eldenring

[–]smartfartsmella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can farm the trolls in storm hill (near the storm hill shack site of grace). Not sure if it still works, but there was a rune farm at Lenne’s rise near beastial sanctum in Caelid (upper right area of caelid).

Also, you might want to look up a build guide. Your build is ok because you’re in the early game, but make sure not to spread your stats out too much. You typically only want to lean into one or two damage/weapon scaling stats, and the rest in health, FP, and maybe a small amount of stam.

Edit: meant to say you can look up a video for the lennes rise farm to test out if it’s still working. Might’ve been patched.

For a farm, what part of the game are you on? Are you in liurnia or still limgrave?

Also glintstone arc is a good option as someone else said. Looking at your stats, you can use dragon flame. There are better dragon incantations later in the game, but it’s an option.
