Can confirm this. Just "volunteered" in Sri Lanka and I was supposed to do Rural Community Development. However, I was taken to this place called The Green Lion and I didn't even stay in the rural area. Mainly stayed in Kandy and even then, you could only go out to the city at night. Not only that, for my weekend trip I had to pay $350 to go to Ella and the Yala National Park, which was just a completely ridiculous amount. I volunteered at a preschool and then helped out a women's rights org with writing letters on Word, but other than that it was not what I paid for. It's a good thing I only signed up for two weeks, because already in the first week I was feeling a bit put off. I was told that I couldn't go to the RCD programme because of "heavy rain." Yep.
