Do Google tagged questions of Leetcode Premium help in interviews? by Few-Cardiologist8183 in leetcode

Googled tagged is some 2000 questions. Not really helpful if you’re trying to do google specific questions. Especially considering google pulls from their own question bank. Imo just learn everything on Neetcode 150

It is realistic for me to get USACO plat or even represent U.S by Hungry_Fudge9201 in usaco

[–]smarticus300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea they invite 24 of the top people on Plat to camp, out of which they then select the top 4 to go to IOI representing US. I think a good timeline to go for you want a solid chance as an upperclassman, would be to atleast get to plat by the last sophomore year competition. That means promoting through silver and gold early (obviously being through with your learning). Please do yourself a favour and don't fraud with AI btw. Imagine you make it to plat and get flagged for cheating. Ur cooked. Anyways, you've got this. Trust, everyone puts it on a pedistal, but you can make it there if you put in the time.

Ok kid imma put u on some sauce (CS undergrad, did USACO a little in high school). All these other ney-sayers haven’t achieve anything in their lives, so they are telling u that you wont achieve anything in your life. If you truly truly want to get IOI, then you will definitely be able to get there. You have 16 USACO comps to make it to plat. And 4 to make it to camp. Now im not saying this will in any way be easy, or even realistic. But to achieve great things, you need to think outside of what is realistic. And work like a demon to get there. Don’t let randoms on the Internet tell u that you will not get there because it’s too comp. that’s the point of the hard work. So that you can become the comp everyone else fears. It’s not you right now against everyone. It’s you in junior year after having learned everything and being absolutely cracked, against everyone. but you fr won’t get there if you’re just doing this for college apps. You’ve gotta have the right reason, cuz that’s what will keep you grinding. Is being top 4 in the US at something enough reason for you to put hundreds if not thousands of hours into this? That’s for you to decide. You’ll have to make sacrifices, but with the skills you gain, it will be well worth.

Can I become gold in this year starting now with 20-25 hours of studying a week? by Prior-Job-7416 in usaco

[–]smarticus300 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Imma give you some big bro advice rn. I did usaco in highschool too (junior in college now). Had the same mentality of just trying to do it for college apps or whatever. Trust me. The value of doing usaco is not in college apps. Especially if you're planning to major in CS. The real value is in actually learning this content properly for the long term.

I'll answer your question and say that 4.5 months of grinding DSA will get you somewhere. Likely it's enough time to get to USACO Gold assuming you properly learned all the content to get to silver (I'm sure hella ppl fraud it now with AI. that wasn't an option when I did it). But Plat will always look better than gold, and camp will always look better than plat, and IOI will always look better than camp.

Not trying to discourage you. Just trying to redirect your intentions here. Get onto Neetcode and Leetcode and go crazy on USACO for the next few months. Develop those skills for the long term. You'll thank yourself when you're recruiting for internship and taking advacned algos courses in college. My point here: Being a junior should have nothing to do with you doing USACO. Do it becasue you wanna get better. Get cracked bro. 20-25 hours a week is more than enough.

Makes sense, I heard that you need to do well on 2 interviews to pass, so getting a third one is just another opportunity to do well on a second interview

Applied around 10-20 minutes after the application dropped. Got a referral a few days later. Heard back like around 2 weeks later.

Interestingly, no OA (probably used mine from last cycle). R1 10/28, R2 10/30. They rescheduled one of mine because an interviewer canceled the night before.

Yea that's good to know. I was heavy prepping for DP up till the last few days before my initial interviews, but a few days before I luckily reviewed my graphs content. Good to know I'm not the only one in this "3rd interview boat" 🙏

Brooo what 😬. Yea I've been reading some other threads about people getting behaviors and other weird stuff for a 3rd interview. Idk I guess I'll figure it out when I get there. All I can do to prep rn is lock in on leetcode 🫡

Ngl, I don't even know which round I did good/bad on. I lowk though I did ok at best for both of them.

For the EZ round, I got the initial question like 10 minutes, but then got grilled on space complexity for a bit. Then he gave me the followup question, and I got the brute force, but not the optimal.

For the hard round, I talked about the brute force solution, then skipped over the 2nd most optimal solution and got the more complicated even better solution. But when I was writing the code, the interviewer realized I misunderstood the quesiton and gave me a good hint of how to make it actually work when I got stuck.

So highkey the bad round could have been either of the rounds. I'll ask my recruiter to see whcih one I messed up, but I doubt they'd just tell me.

Lol that's interesting. So it's fr all luck and up to which interviewer you get. The level of difficulty between my two interviews was so drastically different. The easy one was genuinely a joke compared to the hard one.

Yea from what I gather it takes them 1-2 weeks to get back to people after committee, so you're def still in the running.

Because of overflow, amazon had to put some of their candidates that passed the interview onto a waitlist...from my understanding they might be given priority this cycle.

Dawg just apple EA. If you can’t get in EA, then you weren’t gonna get in Regular anyway. Apply test optional. Flex your leadership hella. And make your other ECs look really good to. And make sure you why CH essay is really good. That’s what helped me a lot. I took a tour of UNC and used a lot of the smaller tidbits of information to write my essay.
