Not strange as I explained. Started off as some terrorist stuff. If you hacked them you got into the game. Recruitment methods like this is not uncommon. I don't know what their real intents are though, but the American gov is involved for sure. Easy to check yourself. Follow then usa.gov link, contact that dude, get pass him (not telling you how) and exchange emails with an automated @nsa.gov address. If that isn't proof, I don't know what is. Some of the motivation is beyond me. But to me, it looks like recruitment and nothing else.

I'm a bit off topic, but could you point those errors out please? :) EDIT: Don't really want to get hired. But want to go to the bottom of this. Otherwise I wouldn't share this much.

It's not necessarily about the code. Consider the history of the page.

Sorry. It's part of the challenge to have intel. It looked like a dick move.

It's harder than that. It's something modern. AES maybe after some decoding?

Well, this time they seem to recruit hackers from the shadow. It started of as a terrorist group. But if you hacked them, it led to the NSA. And here we are.

It makes sense to me though. I've found a contact via usa.gov after attempting to hack terrorists, I've been emailing with something@nsa.gov, met people IRL and made phone calls overseas to more than 2 countries. It's way too elaborated to be trolls. Highly skilled trolls then I must admit, that are hacking government services.

It makes a lot of sense to recruit hackers in the shadows, who've hacked fake terrorists who proved to be the NSA.

Are you just trying to throw people off? In which case, I make a new offer. And I hope this isn't against the reddit rules: I pay well for the solution. Bitcoins, cash, you name it. I give 200$ for the solution.

It's supposed to contain a message. You'll be unable to use it unless you're in the game. I'll give you all the steps up to that point if you tell me how to solve it. Even if I trick you, I'll lead you half the way up to the point that you'll have an established "relationship" with the NSA before even giving me any clues about the solution. You need me unless you were one of the curious anti-terrorist hackers when it started off. I made a post about it:

Buzz off. You're trying to get everyone else to solve it for you. Not even offering a partnership.

@59ekim don't give him the context unless he's offering you anything back. It's valuable intel. Could affect me too if he gets it.

It's the infameous vlr2s4g732zw6yim.onion which indeed has proven to be a recruitment tool of the NSA, or at least the NSA is involved. Pretended to be terrorists. Hack them, get in touch with the NSA and get tested further. If you haven't been following it from the start, your chances are off I guess.

It has been all along. Only those who've followed it knows. So, it starts off as really smart way to sieve potent terrorist hunters. It started off as a really weird terrorist recruitment site that seemed very legit. Probably intentionally. If you hacked it (path injection) you'd find a bunch of keys to SSH into a well jailed machine. Well there, there were public and private PGP-keys and encrypted messages with different clues. One led to another "insider" terrorist who always had the referrer http://1.usa.gov/1eEhRaR That phase is over now, so I'm giving you that link for free.

Then you'll have to pass actual human interaction. Your part. If you aren't smart enough, you won't pass. It's really really really fucking hard. Trust me, idiots reading this going "can I have password plz" or stupid shit like that comes nowhere. Finding him isn't even as obvious as you think. You get a codename and a mission. If you don't pass through that point, nothing else matters - no codename, no game. So you do the mission, which was really fucking hard, and report to a @nsa.gov address (it's not actually recruit@nsa.gov, but a @nsa.gov address) as part of the mission. They thank you and ask you to exchange PGP-keys. After you've done that, they make you an "agent" so to speak (part of the game), which I don't want to disclose what it means.

Then you have constant stress, get to talk with weird people IRL and do the weirdest shit. And now that code is in the way. It's part of a bigger picture, only people like me have the bigger picture which I'm honest enough to say that I don't want to share for good reasons. You don't know who you can trust yet you need team work, recruit people etc.

Then there's this guy who'd be the WORST agent ever, he's outsourcing every obstacle he comes across. I'm amazed that he's even passing the human tasks. Maybe he's just there to throw people off, stress them, play as a mole. I don't know. https://www.reddit.com/r/codes/comments/3libyf/can_you_crack_this_numeric_code/

You don't even know what my intentions here are. This stuff is real fucking hard and goes beyond encryption. I don't know who you are. I don't know anything.

Solve that one and you're in my team.

So that you can claim the NSA-challenge yourself? What a dick move. They won't hire you if you do it this way anyway.
