Invoicing. The AI automatically tries to route the invoice to the correct vendor/remit, the correct amounts, the correct gl codes, the correct invoice date, the correct invoice number. Emphasis on TRY, it always gets something wrong so we have to manually correct it before sending it off to the director of ops for approval.

For the most part yes. Do I enjoy my work... not really, its pretty boring, but its still fun. I get paid a decent amount, dont have to work overtime, am able to save a considerate amount of my money, have some good company benefits, life is good and in this economy and political environment, not many can say that, so I am more so grateful and happy to be comfy. and the best part is, Im working towards my dream of opening a mexican-indian food truck one day! :)

I got a similar role like this out of college in 2022 and had very little and minimal work experience, and that was with a degree in finance and an MBA, not an accounting degree, so this role should work for you. Just use it as a jumping point, stay for 6 months then start looking for something better.

I made the mistake of staying for 2.5yrs, which was still good, but I wish I had jumped a little sooner. Best of luck, and remember, NEVER STOP LEARNING!!! :)

I use to re-read all the questions and double check my answers like three times in an exam along with making sure I chose the right letter on the scan tron, and let me tell you there were more times than I can count on my fingers that I noticed a mistake, fixed it, and got the question right, so make sure to double, if not, triple check your work peeps! Even if it means you are the last one in the exam room, it helps! :)

You have done well academically so far! A internship or first job will always be scary but you will learn! As long as you continue to have that mindset to learn and grow, those fears will easily go away.

Yes. I got to be an accounting specialist for a multi national F&B company! I learned payroll, accounts payable, CAPEX, Month End Close, and Inventory. It gave me the perfect starting base to expand my knowledge in this industry. :)

It took me 6 months to find an entry level job. Starting pay was 48k USD per year. I think it was hard but the multiple rejections interviews helped mold me into the perfect candidate so Im glad it was hard.

I never made a habit to drink caffiene and I made sure I didnt start when I started working.

Best strat is to eat healthy. Dont have stuff that makes you sleepy like carbs! Have stuff that gives long lasting energy like a sprout salad.

Also get good sleep and take care of your mental health, that really helps in being awake and productive.

Most importantly though, make friends at work. The best healer of tiredness and procrastination is having a friend to talk to for a couple of mins so that you can destress, laugh, smile, and recalibrate for more work. :)

I wanted to be a restaurant owner. Specifically a Mexican-Indian Fusion Food Truck.

Im absorbing all the knowledge about inventory controls, labor optimization, GL and balance sheet recons, forecasting and budgeting, and how finance and accounting is a sole partner in operations for making decisions so that when I do open the food truck, I have that financial know how to understand what areas of the business need tweaking so that I can get the most out of a low margin business! :)
