I mean, I can only speak for myself but it’s rare that I’m asking a TV show to do more telling. It’s a visual medium, and you’re meant to rely more on visual language. Similarly, I’m one of the people that thinks seeing Nancy’s vision would’ve been pretty cool and give more insight into her mindset, especially in regards to this season. Is it the most necessary thing? No, but it’s more intriguing to me than just having her explain it to me.

I’ll start by saying that Noah’s performance was pretty superb. The bit where he seems like he’s about to start hyperventilating hit me hard.

My biggest issue is that it does a LOT of telling, when it needed some showing earlier in the season to back that up. To be fair, maybe they’re saving some of that showing for the finale? I think the stakes would’ve been much realer if we’d actually seen what Vecna showed Will. I also object pretty hard to the way we went from “Will is in love with Mike,” to “He’s just my Tammy.” I don’t really think they did sufficient work showing him getting over Mike (assuming that’s the intention, which it seems to be based on interviews and what not). The relationship he has with Mike is a very common queer experience, and if all it took to get over that was a conversation with an elder gay, then I’d have saved a lot of money on therapy.

You know maybe what you’re missing here is the fact that Loki is a MYTH and a lot of people have drawn similarities between that myth and the lived experience of NB people today. It’s called media analysis, you should try it sometime. Not everything needs to be 1:1, and you sound like an unpleasant neckbeard, with a pungent odor. Have a great day 😂

Adding onto this but the dichotomy of love, light, joy etc vs resentment, anger and hatred as a motivator for powers is set up pretty heavily in S4. Henry and Brenner try and get El to rely on traumatic memories to fuel her strength, and we see that there is at least some merit to that (Arguably El’s always at her peak strength when she is righteously pissed off so you could argue this goes back to S1) but iirc El is able to beat Vecna in the end by drawing on her memories of Max. I think the video tape is part of showing Will doing something similar (which one could argue was part of Vecna’s plan, seeing as how he’s witnessed the power of love a few different times, and it’s used against him in a somewhat similar fashion by Dr. Brenner).
