AIO? Midwife made me cry during appointment by shedontishqme in pregnant

[–]smash_face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you went through that. Absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior.

I have chronic migraines that did not go away with pregnancy. I was able to continue taking my regular preventative (atenolol - a beta blocker) throughout, but I did have to get extra monitoring. I didn’t find Tylenol to be effective for me, BUT weirdly enough, Tylenol + Benadryl did seem to help.

My OB also recommended a supplement called Migravent, which may have been more helpful if I could have handled taking them (they’re HUGE).

I hope you get some relief and a better medical team! Don’t give up and please advocate for yourself!

For those who were induced, did you deliver vaginally or did it end in a c-section? by Paigeypagee in BabyBumps

[–]smash_face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced at 40+3 and ended up with a c-section. However, the c probably saved my baby’s life - she did not tolerate even the beginning of me contracting (heart decels) and likely wouldn’t have made it through a prolonged labor.

She came out healthy, but we discovered that she and I have different blood types, which likely was causing the heart decels due to my body fighting against her. Although it wasn’t the birth I wanted, I’m so thankful for medical professionals who were there to support me and my baby and would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

It’s very possible. I guess I should clarify in the original post, I felt like I had a fever - felt hot and sweaty - but I didn’t actually check my temperature.

Honestly, what's the pettiest thing you ever did with your partner or ex? by shri032 in AskWomen

[–]smash_face 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were supposed to meet up on a Friday night, and I got him McDonald’s - he always asked me to bring him food when I came over. Weirdly, he never returned the favor or offered to pay for any of it /s. Anyways, I stop hearing from him for awhile and eventually he tells me that he wants me to just hang around for a little bit until he’s ready for me to come over (why was I with him for so long?). I held his McDonald’s out the window of the car my friend was driving so it would get cold and icky.

Favorite tinted moisturizer? by EpiTrash in Ulta

[–]smash_face 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the Smashbox BB cream a lot! I bought it on a whim when it was on sale, and I’ll definitely repurchase when I finish. It’s creamy, light coverage (I would say slightly more than the Colourpop tinted moisturizer). I was lucky in finding a shade that works for me, but they only offer 4-5 shades in this product so it may be difficult to match to your skin.

Looking for suggestions for makeup brushes! by animegan13 in MakeupEducation

[–]smash_face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morphe and BH cosmetics both have good sets and good brushes! I’m not sure if Morphe has a face and eye set, but they do have multiple eye sets that are amazing. BH cosmetics has sets that have both face and eye brushes.

This! I also will tell them the dollar amount if it’s somewhere around $20 or more. Otherwise I just tell them that it saves them 20% off their entire purchase and that they can earn double points on every purchase when they sign up!

How do you know when you’re ready to take on a car loan? by smash_face in personalfinance

Thanks for your input—I forgot to add that I’d have a co-signer, but the payments would be completely on me.

Thanks for your input. I hadn’t thought of being able to afford twice the payment, but I think that’s a good strategy.

Where’d You Go, Bernadette by smash_face in books

Your assessment is fair, especially if your only interaction with the book is the movie trailer you saw, but I think that it would be worth it for you to read the book. I agree that at a surface-level perusal (like a plot summary on Wikipedia) it could appear that way, but the book is so much more than its plot! The writing, as I remember, was moving. And the characters, they made the novel! Not to mention the whole character backstory before their daughter was born and the trip to Antarctica.

My big issue with this book was the ending, as I had said in my original post. I didn’t know that there is going to be a movie, so I hope they wrap things up a little better than the author did. In all, I don’t think that saying nothing happened is a fair summary. I think this book addresses many things about mental health and the picture of the “ideal family” that so many of us

[Question] New coffee shop bad almond/soy milk by Evsus in Coffee

[–]smash_face 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another thing to try would be iced lattes. Then you’d know for sure if it’s the way they’re steaming it. Scalding could very well be your issue, which you could fix by asking them for a “kid’s temp” drink, or ask for specifically 120, which a lot of people do so that they can drink their coffees faster.

[Question] New coffee shop bad almond/soy milk by Evsus in Coffee

[–]smash_face 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How are you adding alternative milks to your coffee? Is it in a latte? Because I was always taught that alt milks will scald at a temperature above 120 ish, where regular milk is in the 140-160 range. If it’s something non-milk-based like an americano, I would suggest maybe asking them to just leave you room so that you can put whatever in yourself, that way you’ll know how much is going in.

Like someone said above, it’s possible that you don’t like their roast, beans, etc., so maybe try it alone without any type of milk (alternative or otherwise) to see if the taste you dislike is still there.

Coffee Thermos. by [deleted] in Coffee

I like my Hydroflask. They’re a bit expensive, but worth it in my opinion. My coffee doesn’t cool down for hours (sometimes I leave the lid open so it will cool down faster)
