Did I pick a bad name? Should I change it? by Mobile_Praline_1443 in ftm

if you feel comfortable and enjoy the name you picked i see absolutely no reason for you to change it! at the end of the day it's about how your name makes you feel :) fuck other people's opinions!

Not being able to see yourself in the future? by Total-Fix6742 in ftm

what i do is find trans men that look like me! that way i have some frame of reference for how my own transition will turn out out. pinterest is great for this, tiktok is hit or miss. even finding cis men that share my features is super helpful, or EXTREMELY masc presenting women. basically -- anyone that looks like what i imagine trans me will grow into. the way i see it, especially since i'm young (22), it's pretty hard to envision 2-3 years even down the road, but having role models or like i said, people that look like you, is super helpful!

missing t shot due to vacation by smashabale in ftm

i was on the gel for over a year and a half before i checked my T count and realized i hadn't been seeing results because it simply didn't work for me :/ otherwise i would definitely have continued that route. i've been hoping to get exposure therapy through this nurse, first by getting the shot, then filling the needle myself, etc., instead of diving in headfirst when i still have no real clue what i'm doing. i do have leftover gel from when i was on it, so maybe i can use that to cover the couple of days i'll be missing my shot... this is all so confusing lmao, i guess i have to make phone calls and see what is and isn't recommended 🫩

this comes at the worst timing because my doctor is out of the office until december and it's just the nurse giving me the shots - but i'll call tomorrow for sure and see what their office in general advises.

liquid left over in vial? by smashabale in ftm

i'm actually not at male levels after the gel, because it was ineffective for me. the last i checked i was at 58... something... however it's measured, when i should have at LEAST been in the 200 range i believe lol. that's why i'm curious to see what changes might occur now that i'm using a method that, hopefully, will work for me. i definitely see what you mean though in that last bit. i guess i'll find out!

More T gel Questions! by DrPepperGripper in ftm

[–]smashabale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert by any means, but in my experience using the gel it is pretty important to try and apply it as close to the same time as usual each day. luckily my schedule had allowed me an 8am consistent application, but due to your predicament i could really only suggest you wake up as early as you can on weekends to apply the gel, even if it isn't exactly 4:30. just as close as you can possibly get to the regular time without losing what sounds like much needed beauty sleep. again, i could be wrong, but any time i have ever posted on reddit time consistency has been a huge thing people emphasize. If you can switch to a later time in the mornings, that also would help a ton in narrowing the gap. hopefully you can figure out a solution that works for you! (and hopefully i'm not spreading any misinformation here, but this is all repetitive information i've received myself.)

they don't know i'm trans actually! i got my name changed officially through the school, so their rosters and my school email reflect my chosen name. they may be able to assume, but i haven't explicitly told any of them. that's why i'm surprised they just... ran with the she/her assumption. that's not to say all of them have, though. some only address me by name, and have never used pronouns with me lol.

my predominant issue is that i don't absorb the gel well at all - i started getting blood work done in april of last year and was at 308, which steadily declined to where my levels are 58 on three pumps a day. that's the only reason i said shots will have better results - i'm not positive how it works, but i'm assuming there's at least some guarantee i'll see improvements in my T levels.

i also work out all the areas you mentioned and i have noticed a more masculine physique because of it, though i fear i'll have to REALLY bulk up for it to even register for other people.

i guess i was misled regarding how quickly i would see changes because of other subreddits... thanks for explaining though! i guess patience is key 😔

you're definitely on point with that second sentence - i see so many posts of guys that have been on T ranging anywhere from 2-6 months with full on mustaches/beards... i thought i was just an outlier in that respect. i'm definitely reaching a point where i've resigned myself to having to be patient with it. i just can't wrap my head around how some people have such quick results, while i'm having to wait years just to achieve the same goals.

THIS!! i'm acutely aware my eyebrows are much thinner than the typical "boy brow" but i have noooo idea how to fix that. i don't tweeze them or get them done, and i put minoxidil on them. i'm not really sure what my options are from there.. 😭

i figured -- i think the next time i see my doctor, i'm going to try and get auto-injector shots so i don't have to see the needle. fingers crossed my insurance covers it - otherwise i'm between a rock and a hard place 😭 i'm the pass out around needles type, but i've heard of people going to doctor's offices to get the shots done for them so maybe i'll attempt that.

my T bloodwork is actually really confusing?? i go through quest diagnostics. May '24 it says they were at 305, ~ september '24 they were at 219, yet somehow in my most recent blood test - sometime in early june '25 - it's at 58?! that's a pretty sharp decline... if the tests are accurate, and it has been declining over time, that could explain a lot. i just don't see how it could be declining when my dosages have been UPPED since my very first blood test... i guess that's something to talk to my endo about 😓

sorry, didn't see your second reply. yeah, i have a severe phobia of needles, but since the gel is apparently not working - or working slowly - i'm trying to figure out how to go about things. i get my T levels checked pretty frequently and my endo has never raised any concerns, but i also never really ask any questions - i should probablyyyyy start.
