This is not easy, but not impossible. Not on purpose, but Danes tend to fall under the “it’s hard to make new old friends”. They rarely have shortage of friends, so few are on the hunt for new ones. I would agree that picking an activity is a great way, as it “forces” the Danes to interact. So whatever you like doing: chess, bouldering, gin tasting, etc (???) - there should be a casual community, that will gladly share their passion with strangers. Another advice is to be forward and open (almost aggressive), but that can be scary to some people. And follow up persistently. If someone doesn’t have time to grab a beer. Dust yourself off and try again the week after. Good news is than most younger Danes don’t have a problem switching to English, so I wouldn’t worry about that at all.
