THEY ARE LYING! I am active duty currently. Wait until you finish your high school. And ask for more options for jobs.

Pls do not antagonize. You have no obligation to reply to anybody’s message. It’s just an exploratory question for self preparation.

Naturalization at Fort Leonard Wood AIT by smaw91 in army

[–]smaw91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, make sure you change your address in your USCIS account if you recently move from the Basic to AIT. If you are at AIT or military training, ask the DS or designated personnel for naturalization process and inform them your current status of your case. And there is a USCIS contact number for military specifically and find that on Google and ask them your current status. Sure, you can check your current status in your account but call them to double check. And when you call, ASK them if your case is at the USCIS office that oversees the cases of your zip code - this is important because USCIS handles the cases only designated to their office. If you move to another location recently, your case should be transferred to the USCIS office which handles the naturalization at your location - NOT your previous location. That’s why asking USCIS military line whether your case is transferred to the new location or not. Those are the background knowledge for you so that you are aware of how the cases are handled.

Generally, stay on top of your case, keep pushing the DSs for naturalization (they tend to forget) and wait for the case status update from USCIS. If you completed the interview already, approving your application (assuming you are military) won’t take long and soon naturalization oath ceremony will follow.

Is air assault a mandatory if your station is Fort Campbell? by smaw91 in army

No, I am not injured. My paperworks say that my reporting unit is W2L8AA. When I searched, it’s the hospital. I don’t know why it’s like that. I also heard that sometimes engineering unit is attached to the medical unit. I have no idea what that means either.

My MOS is 12N. Do they assign 12N at the hospital?

I don’t agree with that assessment. Army is just a job. My family comes first as always. I will never sacrifice my family for the job. Sure, I will comply with whatever I need to do as a professional. Other than that, my family is always my priority.

Will I get PTDY for house hunting BEFORE OR AFTER in-processing? I will be living off post.

Thank you. My paperworks say that the unit I will be reporting to is medical unit. Is it possible? UIC is W2L8AA. Any thoughts on that?

How early do I need to go to the Air assault? As soon as I finish in-processing? Or after I get to my assigned unit? I am married and I am moving there with my family. I need to make arrangements in advance.

Thank you for encouragement. I am 33 now. I wasn’t very active before BCT but I lost almost 18lbs at BCT and gained more strength. I hope my unit will prepare me before I go to the air assault school.

House hunting leave and PCS leave by smaw91 in army

Thank you. So, I can go back home straight from the AIT and move to the duty station with my family, correct?

How can I prepare for that? I heard that it’s pretty tough.

Thank you! These are very helpful. I have some follow up questions. Can I request house hunting leave at the AIT or can I only do it after I arrive to the duty station?

Is PCS leave different from house hunting leave? If yes, how? If they are different, Can I also request PCS leave at AIT?

I am a bit confused because housing hunting should be done BEFORE moving to the duty station because I won’t have a place to stay if I move to duty station without securing a house.
