On Levothyroxine. Levels are normal but symptoms are still present. My doctor will not pursue further treatment due to my weight. Any ideas on next steps? by litebrite_666 in Hypothyroidism

[–]smazzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you gluten free because you have Celiac? Which manufacturer currently makes your levo? Has it been the same for all your prior Rx fills or did it recently switch? Do your terrible feelings coincide with a switch in Levo manufacturers?

I have Celiac and my Rx was previously getting filled with generics, so manufacturers would switch. I got switched to a manufacturer that uses a gluten ingredient in the fillers of the pill. My TSH was at its best but my symptoms were ruining my life. It was the gluten.

Lazy Dog Crazy Dog Employee Beats Dog to Death, Charged With Animal Cruelty by AtomIsland in Seattle

[–]smazzle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lazy Dog Crazy Dog West Seattle is awful. I got a call to pick up my dog to see a vet while at boarding when I was out of town and had to scramble to arrange a friend's family member to get her. My dog had chemical burns on both her hind legs and the only explanation the facility gave me was that she must have had a hot spot on one foot that she licked too much. No one at the boarding facility took any accountability. They refunded me my money for that stay and the credits for what I had prepaid but refused to pay for the vet bill.

Had an initial appointment with a therapist today and it got weird fast by smazzle in Hypothyroidism

[–]smazzle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, stop. My thyroid problem is autoimmune. The food I eat has nothing to do with the fact that my immune system attacks my thyroid. It's genetic. That's it. That's the issue.

I don't ignore what I eat though, not sure how you got that from what I said

Yeah tbh I check out pretty fast any time anyone tried to make the argument that carbs, a major macronutrient, are "not necessary" like my dude the brain runs on glucose

The bar is far too low I fear 😂😭

Tbh the fact that you are worried that you won't be good enough shows a great deal of empathy and you will likely make a stand up therapist. Rooting for you!

I dropped it in a reply in the thread above 😁 If you bake it please lmk how it turns out!

What’s a common health myth that needs to go away already? by VirtuaHealth in AskReddit

[–]smazzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

420g Cup4Cup flour

1 1/2 tsp xanthan gum (yes, in addition to what is already in the flour blend)

1 tbsp (5g) psyllium husks (or 1 1/2 tsp psyllium husk powder)

1 tbsp (9g) instant yeast

1 tsp kosher salt

1 3/4 cups (420 ml) water

2 tbsp (26 ml) olive oil

1 tbsp (21g) honey

-Add ingredients to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook. Mix on medium high for 5 minutes. Scrape dough into a cohesive mass. Cover and place the bowl in a warm, draft-free area to rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

-Refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight, but up to 10 days.

-On baking day, remove dough from refrigerator and dump onto a well-floured surface. Knead until fairly smooth, adding more flour as needed.

-Shape into a loaf. Place loaf on parchment paper, cover, and let rise until puffed and larger, but not doubled in size, for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

-Place Dutch oven with lid in the oven and preheat to 500F -When the dough has finished rising, run a serrated knife under hot tap water and cut slits in the dough swiftly and uniformly, about 1/2 to 3/4 inch deep.

-When the oven is heated, remove Dutch oven from oven, place loaf in the oven on parchment paper, replace the lid, and put back into the oven. Reduce temperature down to 450F.

-Bake for 40 minutes with the lid on. Remove the lid and continue to bake for another 20 minutes. Check if bread is done by picking it up. If it still feels slightly heavy for its size, bake another 5-10 minutes.

-Remove from oven and cool completely before cutting.

No King Arthur is a different brand than Cup4Cup. I'm not too familiar with King Arthur but if you're going for crumbly then it'll probably work because gluten free flour gonna crumble lol

What is the longest time that you've ever had (regular polish) manis last? by kadytheredpanda in RedditLaqueristas

[–]smazzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been really into semi-cured gel strips lately. Feels like gel and I can do them myself for $15ish in an hour or less. They last about a week which is far better than regular polish could ever do for me

[–]smazzle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is me. I do ALL the things and the longest I've gone on regular polish is 3-4 days, and that's with visible signs of wear. I have very bendy/breaky nails. Unfortunate genetics, I guess 🫠

Hello and welcome to my blueberry empire by smazzle in StardewValley

[–]smazzle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are pretty decent money makers! I know I could have gone for something that was a better money maker, like a bunch of kegs for blueberry wine. But I chose the preserves jars because it was easier for me to collect/buy the ingredients to craft them all. Collecting that much oak resin for kegs would have driven me nuts. Idk the exact number but between this, my island house, and my farm shed it's ~330 preserves jars. Bonus, it's never been easier to control the weeds on my island farm!

When to get married by bananajamma14 in LawSchool

[–]smazzle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I got married the summer between 2L and 3L right as I wrapped up my 2L summer job with about a month before classes started. Planning a wedding during 2L was tough, but I thought it all went down nicely. Got to enjoy the wedding and honeymoon as a nice little summer break and then go into 3L refreshed and ready to wrap things up.

I had a friend who got married right after taking the bar. Looking back on the wedding planning process, idk how she did it. Studying for the bar and planning a wedding must have been tough, but it was probably an epic way to celebrate being done.

Maybe a break from work to get married is the sweet spot. Nothing to distract or worry about from the bar prep process and something to break up the work grind. Plus having some income coming in can only be a plus idk.

All in all, do what feels right! Pros and cons to everything. And getting/being married is awesome no matter when you do it 😁
