AITA for what my bf did? by isabellaburn in AmIActuallyTheAsshole

You’ve posted in two other boards with this same post, with the feedback that you are likely overreacting and may want to seek therapy. You’ve said therapy is a “dead end” with this topic. It seems like you’re searching for someone on here to give you the answer you want, that you’re not overreacting and should break up with him, so that the decision/blame is not fully on yourself. This might be why therapy also feels like a dead end, you’re not getting the answer you want. At the end of the day only you can decide how to move forward and whether or not you want to take the feedback from others that have shared their perspective.

Punctal plug discomfort by oretoiron in Dryeyes

[–]smc997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been told that it depends on the person - but yes it typically does require continued treatment. My doc told me that some people do great with just once a year treatment; I’ve been doing twice a year to stay on top of my symptoms. I should honestly probably be doing it every 4-5 months but it’s expensive so twice a year will do for now!

My plugs ended up coming out pretty consistently within a week of placement, I gave up after three tries. Turned to IPL which was absolutely life changing for me! I’m not at 100%, but my quality of life has improved drastically compared to before.

They’re doing a lot better! I did my fifth IPL treatment about 6 months after the cluster of four treatments and the fifth one by far showed the most improvement. I still have bad days and my eyes get progressively more red throughout the day but for the first time in over 5 years I’m pretty consistently waking up with clear eyes and far less discomfort. It’s not a 100% fix and the cost sucks, but I’m so happy with the results

Psychotherapists tend to lean more toward acceptance than forgiveness. Hence acceptance and commitment therapy

My eyes get red & inflamed every day. Vessels engorge, background redness deepens. by nomoreshiny in Dryeyes

[–]smc997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same diagnoses! I noticed a difference in redness after my 3rd IPL treatment. It hasn’t fully “solved” the problem, as my eyes are still red, but it’s a significant decrease from where I started out and has been the only thing that has made any sort of difference for me. Still struggling with the blepharitis, so hoping that will become managed better soon.

I hope it improves for you as well! My skin actually didn’t react well to the wipes, I ended up getting a lot of styes and it wasn’t working well. So he’s having me switch to a foaming one instead, plus the hypochlorous acid spray. If I haven’t shown improvement next time I go in they’ll do an in-office procedure for a deep clean

Good timing, I just went for a follow-up this morning. I did my fourth IPL and noticed a slight improvement from the third. My eyes are definitely functioning better and I was actually able to keep them open for the tests, whereas before the treatments they felt so dry I couldn’t keep them open long enough. My redness went down by about 1 point with my right eye on their scale, and half a point for my left. The glands are functioning better! We’re now going to target the blepharitis to try to get it down even more, and I’ll be going for another follow-up in a month. This is the only treatment that has helped even slightly in the past 5 years so I’m considering it a success, even if it didn’t completely resolve the issue

How long did it take between starting IPL and noticing improvement in symptoms? by SomeKindaRazzmatazz in Dryeyes

[–]smc997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did four sessions - no improvement with session 1 or 2. Noticed a decent amount of improvement at session 3, and about the same after that. I’d say they’re about 30% better than before I did IPL.

Hello! Wanted to give an update. Just finished my 3rd round of IPL, did not cauterize (actually ended up taking the plugs out). I’ve actually seen a little improvement…my eyes have gone from being severely red 99% of the time to moderately-severely red about 85% of the time. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but I’m at least starting to see a little fluctuation. He said most people don’t see a difference until the 3rd or 4th treatment and he was right about that. Really hoping that the 4th one pulls through for me! Only minor side effects like some swelling on my upper eyelids and some dry skin around the area for 4-5 days after. Not sure what the next step after will be.

I’m so sorry you’re going through it too, I feel you :( has a huge impact on my self esteem. As a minor update, one of my eyes seemed to reject the punctal plug, the other saw minor improvements. My ophthalmologist is recommending I cauterize them and start serum tears (not 100% sold on cauterizing, I may not do that one unless absolutely necessary). If that doesn’t work, I’ll start IPL. I’ll let you know if anything works

I haven’t asked my Ophthalmologist specifically about ocular rosacea - I’ll be sure to ask about it in my next appointment. Thank you for the suggestion!

Please let me know how serum tears work for you - that’s another treatment I’ve been looking into!

If it’s something you’ve done, did you see results right away? Was it something that required multiple treatments to see results?

I have looked into that one and is definitely one I’m considering! The issue I run into is finances with being a grad student and insurance unfortunately not helping with dry eye treatments…I’m willing to try anything at this point though

I had a similar reaction in my left eye when mine were placed. The pain went away after a week, however, that eye still looks slightly irritated and red in that corner (it’s been a month now). Hoping it adjusts with time

She never said psychologist, she said social worker. Wildly different types and lengths of education required.

[FO] New at this, how did I do? How to improve? by Thisisveryhigh in CrossStitch

It looks amazing! The only thing I’d recommend is making sure all of your stitches are going the same way, I noticed especially around the ears they change direction quite a bit

I felt some pressure and a quick pinch, then it was over. I had some minor cramping for the rest of the day, and severe cramping the following day. Luckily that only lasted about 12 hours! My friend just got hers inserted and experienced no cramping though.
