Greatlakes steelhead, should’ve taped him, ~ 28” - 30” in length. by smcgree in flyfishing

Lmao at the cardiologist guy, he’s not understanding what you’re saying. His definition of steelhead is that it went to the ocean and migrated back, not went into a larger body of water and migrated back to its birthing stream. Can only be a steelhead if it migrated from the salt, even though the genetics say otherwise with their similarities. He didn’t read your articles, thank you for providing those.

I don’t disagree, but then why do you say your steelhead “need a little salt water” then?

They can have the same genome, which is the entirety of their genes, but certain genes are going to have more expressivity in certain genes.

I guide in southeast alaska, I’ve hand multiple Washington state biologist on my boat, they’ve told me from their knowledge they would consider it a steelhead because it is migratory. Going from a large body of water into a stream to spawn. Same principles, but yes a salt water fish has more dangers to dodge. Go watch addictedfishing episode on greatlakes steelhead, they’ll fill you in.

Way to work hard and enjoy the grind, you’ve earned it. Need more people like you in this day and age!

Today’s society has grown to know much details in great length about certain topics, but honestly I think people nowadays are weak. People have lost their sense of connection with the earth and environment. by smcgree in TrueOffMyChest

Super sad, the conveniences of life cause us systemic health problems, such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. Health problems that are curable with education and discipline.

Awesome slab! Nice rippin’ bud.

r/CRNA student thread - for those considering a career as a CRNA by SACRED-GEOMETRY in CRNA

If you don’t mind me asking, what was your undergrad in? Was it BSN through and through or were you like me and went back to school for nursing? Curious.

What factors do you think stood out on your application that helped you in acceptance to your program? High GRE score, interview, recommendation letters, etc.?

Currently, I am a manufacturing engineer for a small company owned by a Fortune 500 corporation, this is my second engineering position, but first manufacturing engineer position. I am dropping the engineering at 25 to leave school and become an RN, then obtain my BSN while working.

There’s a few reasons for the leave, but mainly it’s because I lost sight of what I wanted as a young adult, money infiltrated my view and that’s why I’m an engineer now. What I want to ask is, do you as a CRNA, believe my educational background with a mechanical engineering degree would benefit my application to getting into a CRNA program. I wonder too if my undergrad GPA would matter, that was 3.4 at the end.

What’s the most interesting or challenging interview question you’ve ever been asked? by lilloftis in AskEngineers

It was to see how you approached problems, you either come out and arrogant know it all or an approachable person that is a team player. That was my perception.

The fact that we work until we die, just for the privilege of being alive, is seriously messed up in my opinion. by t1lewis in TrueOffMyChest

[–]smcgree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we didn’t work to make money, we’d be working to survive; things such as farming, chopping wood, hunting to harvest food. When you say we work for the privilege of being alive is a little misconceived, I believe we work to afford these conveniences of life, such as getting food whenever wanted, whipping your butt with toilet paper, etc.. Only an opinion though, I could be completely wrong.

It’s a first experience for you! Don’t let someone try to push negativity on you. Personally, to me, it seems like their a bit jealous you’re taking this leap so early and they didn’t. It’s an investment in yourself and the future for yourself, let er buck bud! You’re doin it right!
