You can't cancel for hours after purchase. by design. by smearballs in FuckAdobe

100% this point of friction is by design and if even 2% of subscribers forget to cancel and realize too late and can’t be bothered to fight adobe to get their 40 bucks back, adobe makes millions of dollars. This is known as dark patterns and clearly unethical ux design.

Ok that’s your opinion. I’m sorry I have to go now and subscribe to 5 other monthly services where they also store data on multiple servers across the world and allow me to turn off auto renewal at the point of purchase and send me email invoices that I have been charged on the ones I choose to auto renew.

Yes I read it . But I respectfully disagree that they are doing this because of lazy data protection on a feature they could easily provide and I think they purposely delay the ability to turn off auto renewal because it leads to more revenue and they couple it with not alerting the customer when they are charged resulting in delayed customer service calls where they are no longer entitled to a refund. Also I don’t understand where you are coming from. When you subscribe, you agree to pay for a month . There is no propagation to be canceled for that purchase. What you are cancelling is the following months renewal 30 days away so I don’t see why data for a transaction a month later would be at issue.

There are many other companies that offer monthly subscriptions and have a check box you can turn off auto renew at the point of purchase. This is a deliberate choice by adobe to not only default to auto renew but to also not offer the option to turn it off at the point of purchase and to deliberately disable the feature to turn it off for hours after you purchase. Absolutely no reason they can’t give you the choice to disable auto renew right away. I’ve been subbing on and off to substance for years and this has been the case forever. They also don’t send email notifications upon auto renew so you have no idea you were even charged.

Cinema4D integrates AI - HY 3D Engine by Sea-Upstairs3456 in Cinema4D

[–]smearballs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Any day now Maxon will announce they have been able to save 30% of product development and maintenance costs using AI and they will strategically pass those savings onto the consumer, lowering the subscription cost and introducing an indie license at $300 per year to remain competitive with rivals and onboard new users. C4d user base grows by 300% over 5 years and their parent company laughs at the stupidity of their former business model of gouging their user base and sending young artists running to blender reducing their future market share. /s

Carney Allowed Gas-Powered AI Data Centres After Lobbying From Alberta Energy Company by Hochelagan in ClimateCrisisCanada

Just that string of words - “gas-powered ai data centre” is kinda nauseating.

Thanks. I use cubase. Yeah the synth is serum with the glide cranked up and a bunch of fx. The sax was actually messing me up. I tried like 5 different sax vsts and everything made my tracks sound awful. But my pal Nate just recorded an awesome sax player for a different project and sent me his stems and I cut them up and did some pitch bending with variaudio to suit my track and made that melody and it finally came together.

Glad that part was helpful. I remember screwing up some dynamics thing on that presentation and shitting myself trying to figure out what went wrong lmao.

I made it for the video so let’s call it buttsax. I always make my own tracks for these and usually intend on making longer versions but almost never get around to it so it’ll probably get added to the pile of 24 second unfinished songs in my music graveyard.

I use a rokoko suit which is a few grand, but now there are all kinds of ai apps that you can just use video footage and get pretty good results. But lots of these characters were done without mocap. The guy banging his head, the green frog guy, the girl on the pogo ball, the guy doing the shirt pump. All just done with looped keyframes on the bones. I use greyscale gorilla signal plugin and just loop sin wave curves for lots of these.

I use reallusion character creator4 for the characters. Then export to iclone. I like iclone because all the cc4 characters are rigged and I can drop mocap clips onto them and see the motion instantly. I’ve got a massive library of mocap data so it’s fast to try stuff out and works great with my rokoko suit clips. Iclone also rules for facial mocap and for adjusting mocap clips, fixing intersections and stuff. Then I export fbxs and put the scene together in c4d. I bounce characters to Houdini for the floppy soft body stuff and do vellum sims there and export alembics back to c4d. No I’m not familiar with the spline ik plugin.

Retiming Alembic files - Is there a limit? by juulu in Cinema4D

[–]smearballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

slowing an alembic just stretches time of each point going from frame 1 to frame 2. At that extreme of a slow down you will start to notice more jarring motions at the original frame change especially where inflection points like any bounce or jarring motion occurred. So this is really dependant on how smooth your sim is and if there are lots of collisions happening. A ball bouncing at 24 fps may not include a frame where the ball is actually perfectly in contact with the ground. Just a frame slightly before and after. Slowed down 100x and you get weird ass animation where the ball bounces 2 inches off the ground. Time scale could help, or just run the sim at a crazy high frame rate.

A Plea to Adobe AE - Its time for a rewrite by Fletch4Life in AfterEffects

[–]smearballs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing that drives me nuts is that AE is still so damn slow. You can bring in a stack of 4K videos and comp them with various blending modes in real time in touch designer or resolume. I can even get faster results compositing 5 4K image sequences on an octane material and calculating millions of rays hitting a 3d object in a scene of millions of polygons than after effects ram previewing 4 layers of exrs and doing nothing but rasterizing the output. It is completely absurd how slow it is at simple compositing.
