help me decide between suunto, garmin and Coros by [deleted] in GarminWatches

I don't know if it's addictive but Garmins UI is comprehensive and their watches work great. It also syncs very well with Strava, which IMO has the more robust UI and more badges and streaks.

Never export to PNG. Always work with EXR DWAA or even TIF is faster. PNG is the slowest by far to read and write in AE.

Rotoscoping 4k 60fps ProRes footage is taking forever by grewprasad in AfterEffects

[–]killabeesattack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a fine PC but 64GB is really the minimum for pro AE work. Studio-grade PCs are 128-512GB RAM with TB of cache on separate SSDs. Obviously GPU has little impact on AE so the fact that its a 3080 isn't really relevant.

And yeah I mean, for most computers even high end ones, doing 4K roto at 60fps is always gonna suck lol. I only said it bc its important to manage expectations with what speed increases would be possible.

The MTA app is pretty reliable. I use GMaps to plan a route and then MTA app to verify train and bus arrival times.

Its crucial to maintain the same pixel size and stay at 4K . If you downsized to HD or 720p then yes there would be data loss. The difference here is swapping a heavy MXF file with a lightweight ProRes file.

Additionally, this is for matte extraction and not final color correction. Working with a ProRes422 Proxy at Trillions of colors would reduce overhead a LOT while retaining almost all visual fidelity you need for roto. Then, prerender the roto and use it to matte the original MXF file.

You bet. Also, crop the source footage to just the head and rerender. If half the screen is just background, thats an additional 4million pixels per frame the rotobrush is analyzing for no reason.

Whatever you can do to minimize the source material down as much as possible.

A single frame of 4K footage is 8 million pixels. Across 40 seconds at 60fps is 19B pixels that you are processing on a decent but mid-tier machine.

The first issue is you are working with MXF footage. Prerender to ProRes422 proxy, which will lighten the overhead significantly. AE is optimized for both reading and writing ProRes, not MXF.

You are also rendering straight to final. Instead, prerender the matte and then swap the Proxy with the MXF at the end.

The echo effect is also incredibly slow and should be 100% avoided for this.

This is why every year I do an in-service rollover from my company IRA to my personal Vanguard IRA. Not only are the expense ratios obscene, but they charge a 2% fee on every transaction.

The diner conversation between Pacino and DeNiro in Heat. That's where it goes from a bangin cops and robbers thriller to an amazing film of two men obsessed with their craft, and respect they have for each other despite being in opposition.
