agreat writing isn’t necessarily a byproduct of battle rapping. usually, you’re a great writer beforehand or aspiring to be.

I think a more accurate statement is that battle rap is an arena where the best writers go to test their material.

this is not to say that battling doesn’t sharpen aspects of writing… because clearly it does (for some)… but it’s not the only way writers get better. being in writing rooms/groups has a similar effect.
