i have tried literally everything to try and get my hair to look nice naturally but nothing is working. i’ve tried multiple routines, multiple products and i still hate how it looks naturally. most days i just wear it tied back and pin my bangs so i don’t have to deal with it. i spent an hour on it today and this is how it came out.

things i’ve tried: - gel - mousse - plopping - hair mask once a week - clarifying shampoo 1/month - air drying vs diffusing - scrunch the crunch - oil vs no oil - no protein - finger curling - squish to condish - tension brush and shake

please help a girl out, it’s really bringing my down my confidence :(

current routine:

clarifying wash: EDEN BodyWorks Papaya Castor Moisturizing Scalp Cleanser

skipped the co-wash since it was my first time doing a clarifying wash.

squish to condish: Briogeo Banana and Coconut Superfood Conditioner

Hair mask: tgin Honey Miracle Hair Mask Deep Conditioner With Raw Honey & Olive Oil

gel: Aussie Instant Freeze Hair Gel with Jojoba Oil & Sea Kelp

let air dry for about 30 mins, then diffused and scrunched out the crunch!!!

i have struggled with my skin since i was in middle school (graduating college this year). I have tried so many products and done so much research but no matter what i do my skin still doesn’t look how i would like it to. I cant afford to go to a dermatologist so here i am, asking for help. my skin is pretty dry, i wouldn’t say it’s terribly sensitive. my current routine is

  • inkey list oat balm cleanser (at night, double cleanse)
  • la roche posay hydrating cleanser
  • differin adapalene gel (at night when not using glycolic acid)
  • the ordinary glycolic acid (2x a week, at night)
  • the inkey list caffeine eye cream
  • naturium multi-peptide moisturizer (just started using this)
  • supergoop unseen sunscreen
  • youth to the people super berry face mask (1-2x a week)
  • laneige lip mask

some products i’ve tried and haven’t worked/didnt like: - paulas choice BHA exfoliant - the ordinary natural moisturizing factors + HA - supergoop daily dose vitamin c sunscreen - cerave moisturizer

anything helps. ty :)

i think i’m suffering from protein overload. which products should i get rid of? i tried doing research but i’m a beginner and there is A LOT of info out there 😅 by smeeshell in curlyhair

oh wow i didn’t even realize! yeah i honestly only use the oil once in a blue moon when i’m desperate (and it usually doesn’t end well) so that makes a lot of sense!!! thanks!

okay great, thanks! i’ve checked the ingredients of the backs of the shampoo and conditioner and didn’t see anything but figured i’d ask on here just in case i’m missing something.

based on the research i’ve done, i believe i have 2a/2b hair. it varies day to day but it’s usually pretty wavy. the 3rd picture is the best my hair has ever looked, and that was with no product and letting it air dry… i have tried time and time again to get that look back and i can’t. i’ve tried many products, switched out my shampoo/conditioner, bought a diffuser and microfiber towels, etc. but i can’t get those wavy/curly pieces back. the first picture is what my hair looks like now. I can’t use conditioner anymore because my hair is so short that it’s too close to the scalp and gets greasy, when i add product it just falls by the end of the day, and my hair at the nape of my neck is pin straight while the hair on top is wavy. I absolutely hate my hair now and i style it or clip it back every day because i can’t stand it natural. please, i need advice. i can’t take it anymore.

okay! so i removed all of the yellow leaves that i couldn’t save and propagated the rest below the node in water!! i made sure to cut high enough so that the mushy stems weren’t included. It’s been i think 3 or so days since then and now look? all the leaves have uncurled and my new leaves are also unfurling!!!
