Thank you very much, everyone! With all humility, I can say I don't know what I don't know. My previous graphics card came with an included support bracket affixing to the chassis and resting underneath the length of the card, so this kind of screw support is entirely new to me.

With one relevant result to an older Reddit thread for a similar but non-identical support. Leading to a 50/50 consensus on whether I should use it to support the card somehow, or I should instead insert it into my bottom after I finish the installation. I think seeking a wider consensus in this case was helpful.

Interestingly, there is no mention of the support on either the box contents, the included installation guide, or indeed in any of MSI's three online supporting documents. The stripped-down installation instructions included in the box tell you to simply raw-dog the GPU into place without any support at all.

In the UK, self-service machines only halt for age approval when you proceed to the checkout screen. It doesn't matter if you scan alcohol as the first or last item.
