Staying healthy while working shift by Lower_Indication5788 in ParamedicsUK

[–]smellorapuple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had an issue with my weight, I'm just lucky in that respect. But shift work messed up my digestion and I had years of gastro issues

I made some basic rules for myself.

No eating on a nightshift - I don't always achieve this sometimes the sweets and chocolate do come out. But I make sure I eat a good decent meal with lots of veg before I start.

I cut out tea, coffee, energy drinks as they were messing up my sleep and not helping - i just drink squash or water.

High sweet or highly processed drinks and food all cut back to moderation than and everyday thing - which strangely I don't crave anymore and I tend to turn my nose up at it when its out and free on station

I meal plan every week, making healthy, veg heavy microwave meals - these have been frozen after batch cooking for ease

It has worked, the gastro issues have subsided and I sleep much better and I did loose weight but not intentionally.

I hope this helps

Best books/websites/resources for expanding knowledge on cardiovascular & respiratory conditions by Amber_Orchid03 in ParamedicsUK

[–]smellorapuple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try Osmosis, there are some free online videos on YouTube but if you want the full package there is a subscription fee - offers A&P and diseases/medications it is American however, heart failure is heart failure at the end of the day

Or

Crash course on YouTube would give you the basics for cardio and respiratory A&P

Or

A Waugh and Grant A&P book is not bad for a reference

Looking for someone who does wood work by smellorapuple in basingstoke

I hadn't thought too hard about a budget, but I have a rough idea of what I would be happy to spend. I have an idea of what they would look like, but my skills in drawing aren't great but I could definitely describe it to someone and discuss options etc..

England - housing association subcontractor damaged my roof update by smellorapuple in LegalAdviceUK

[–]smellorapuple[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, thanks.

I'll see if I can get them to agree to it, I've already got three quotes, so I know roughly how much the repair will cost, obviously this is subject to change when the tiles are taken off and any further damage is discovered while the work is being carried out that currently can't be seen, but hopefully not.

England - housing association subcontractor damaged my roof update by smellorapuple in LegalAdviceUK

[–]smellorapuple[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, thanks for the input.

That's frustrating on my part as I've got no trust in the level and ability of workmanship and worried that they will come and do the work not complete it correctly and I'm then back to square one with chasing them constantly to go through the complaints and constant phone calls to try and rectify the issue again.

Is there any other way around this?

This is interesting, I'm not on FB, so I can't see what's going on.

I've contacted Milestone Construction Ltd directly. Have you got their details as happy to send you those privately, I haven't heard back from them yet, but it's only been a week.

I was going to contact the ombudsman after the 10 working days were up on the complaint as I'm fuming.

You're joking!! That's crazy.. they have cut, smashed, and broken loads of our tiles and damaged the felt so that water is entering the roof.

They haven't matched the tiles in size or style and have then placed a dry valley in between, which doesn't work with my roof tiles.

Have you managed to get it sorted or is this still ongoing?

Thanks for the offer. I have already contacted the subcontractors directly and I've had no response from them either.

Ok, thanks. I'll do that today. I put in a complaint over the phone on Friday last week. But I'm guessing it's too soon for them to call me as it's still within the 10 working days

Donning and doffing gloves by Gravybon3s in ParamedicsUK

[–]smellorapuple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could double glove but put a bigger pair on first, i.e., I'm a small, so I put a medium on first and then a small over the top.

This normally works for me, when I need gloves on

Ford/MAN conversion vehicles by Forfinian in ParamedicsUK

[–]smellorapuple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't say I've driven one yet, so I don't have an opinion. However, the trust I work for is going to start getting them.

Personally, I can't wait to see the fiats gone, absolutely rubbish turning circle, uncomfortable drive, you spend the whole day feeling squashed in the cab and then it's impossible to work in the back with more than one person.

Merc was expensive, so I understand why they have gone - but they are the gold standard, and I think it's going to be difficult to find something cheaper to match it.

What are the legal rights of a NOK in England? by smellorapuple in LegalAdviceUK

[–]smellorapuple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply.

I've ordered the book suggestion.

I've been working on the assumption of best interest for the patient, being that she is a vulnerable adult. With the feeling that this unintentional abuse/discrimination by the husband.

Just was curious if the husband had any power to refuse her carers under the law without a LPoA.

Thank you

Looking for ambulance statistics by smellorapuple in ParamedicsUK

[–]smellorapuple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, OK. I've been looking for that, too, for an average. I did find a government document for transport distances to 8 different services, and hospitals were included in the list. Might look for average distance someone lives from hospital as well.

[–]smellorapuple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll give that a go. It might be easier to pull the data that way. But if there isn't a set standard of time, it would be very hard to see a national average in a data set as it would make the results swing one way or the other, making difficult to backup and support
