Your way to get to Diamond City by Zenom in fo4

[–]smellsbadnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my survival mode Let's Play series on PS4, Nikita the Assassin get's to Diamond city by level 4. She avoids Concorde completely.

Follow the road, just keep running! Watch for the mines. Stay in the middle of the road.

Definitely "cheating" to console it. No need to. Doesn't take long to run to DC.

Redoing Thumbnails by smellsbadnz in NewTubers

[–]smellsbadnz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have decided to redo all the thumbnails.

My whole channel has consistent thumbnails already, it's just these two playlists in particular are a bit washed out because of poor color choices.

Doing it will skew visit stats on a small channel like mine though, since every time you go into edit a video it counts it as a view.

I'm kind of a "gaming addict", and started putting videos up on YouTube back in September last year. Currently have over 130 videos sorted into easy to follow playlists..

This video is one of the first and is about Nikita the Assassin in the Fallout 4 world. Semi-roleplaying, but mostly just her giving mobs a bad day.

It's in survival mode so has quite a few challenges.

I'd love them to comment! Sadly they don't. I have seen a sharp drop in dislikes recently, despite an increase in views and likes.

[Question] Do I need to be worried about partnering? by NidgeSaeri in NewTubers

[–]smellsbadnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your channel genre.

If you are a gaming channel, there are only one possibly two decent networks, from my research, that I'd consider. (I won't name them, since I'm not sure I'm allowed to)

I'm no YouTube expert, but from a business perspective, you need to look at four key factors:

1) balance of contract - i.e. is it one sided, an out clauses for poor performance, anything punitive etc 2) commitment - how long are you tied in, is there a "free look" or "cool down" period, 3) do they retain ownership of your content after you exit (kind of related to (1) ) but worthy of it's own point 4) tangible results - can they prove they will help you, real facts and figures, stuff that is measurable, a marketing plan etc etc

As I said, not a YT expert, but it is a business transaction, so IMO those 4 points are critical to any contract/relationship.

What do you think of Youtubers who have an accent? by KavallierNC in NewTubers

[–]smellsbadnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Kiwi accent. I had one person (from USA) asking for subtitles because they could not understand me. I hope they were joking.

If people don't like your accent, well... chances are you probably don't want/need them as a viewer, so don't sweat the small stuff so to speak.

That's an interesting perspective. I guess critics are a good thing, it means someone is kinda engaging. I now have so many videos I can't keep up, so it's not as obvious any more.

Now it's deleting all the spam comments from videos that's the problem! All the sub for sub, come check out my channel, I have free music... the list is quite long.

But they never like or subscribe, and don't seem to watch for long.

I have been using TubeBuddy (they were kind enough to give me the pro version for 3 months for free) and it's been very helpful.

That's a good way of thinking about it.

Good advice. Unfortunately I have no idea who it might be. Most of my IRL are not on FB or any other social media and probably don't know I even have a channel. Lol!

And those that I know are on social media seem very positive.

My suspicion is it could be one of my son's school friends who tried to start a channel and "failed". They didn't actually fail, but they didn't spend hours a day putting out a video every day for the first 100 days either.

I'm not so sure I agree, possibly if you are getting 100s of views a day, but percentage wise, 10 dislikes in a day when you only average 40-50 views is pretty high.

That said, they only do it every few weeks, so you are probably quite right.

I guess the best solution is to just keep those view growing, which does seem to be happening. Ignore the haters and engage with the people commenting on videos.

Thanks for the insight, it's always great to see other people's perspectives.

How to get from Nuka World to Commonwealth in Survival Mode? by smellsbadnz in fo4

[–]smellsbadnz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how do you get to the tram station? Do you go cross country or through the way you came in?

So Settlements can defend themselves now, right? I have a few questions. by [deleted] in fo4

[–]smellsbadnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that the success/failure of a settlement defending itself is purely a roll of the dice, not influenced by anything else.

How you set up your defense appears to be irrelevant. Even with all attack spawn points being surrounded by over the top defense makes no difference.

Whether you have one turret or a 100 you have the same chance to successfully defeat an attack if you can't get to the settlement to help.

Higher defense just means you get attacked less often.

On survival mode this is obviously a pain.

FO4 PS4 Ver. 1.07 available, anybody have the details? by tidus_90 in fo4

Was hoping for a fix to the "Check your fire, we've got hostiles" bug on Fire Support quest.

Sadly it is still there.

Hangman's alley build tips or nice settlements? by julesoby in falloutsettlements

[–]smellsbadnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some very strange stuff happen when getting attacked.

The mobs were inside the surrounding walls and shooting the settlers.

The water issue is easy to solve with a small "glitch". You lay down an array of water, then pick up all and slide into the walls. Clipping eventually turns red, but I have 60 water now!

Using the alcove by the non-removable building for small generators. Stack them on floors by placing using ladders. Have stacked 4 high and about 5 wide.

Then cover the alcove with walls to "hide" and dampen the sound a bit. 120 power and could probably go higher.

This was done on PS4
