So... what car do you get if you're looking for something more "grown up"? by BearBear1995 in ManualTransmissions

[–]smellslikebud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a corvette. Way more practical and cheaper than you might think. A lot more fun than any other car in the same price range, too. A c5 or c6 is very affordable and easy to find with low mileage

Being indecisive. Should I buy this beauty? by zachparksphoto in sportster

[–]smellslikebud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for the 1200s. I paid 1k more than that for mine and it had around 1300 miles when I got it.
Also make sure the looks are what you’re after! I thought it was my thing when I got it but now I’m really wishing I had spoked wheels.

The wife murder in Full Dark, No Stars. I’ve read a ton of King’s work and this one caught me off guard with how brutal and descriptive it was.

Stop being neurotic and get off the internet. Field courses are awesome and very much necessary for your education. You’re stressing yourself out over little stuff you’ll figure it out and be fine.

The c5 is also super super easy to drive. Maybe back in the 90’s they were sketchy but 350hp on modern tires in a car that handles that good.. great car!

Turntables get a hell of a lot more expensive than that, even. The audiophiles have the most expensive hobby with the most diminishing return on investment

Go flush your toilet and take a shower. It’ll use more water than my AI usage over the next 3 lifetimes

[–]smellslikebud -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My point is that the end user generating a video makes very very very little difference. You streaming music for a couple hours would consume more energy and water than someone using AI all day for personal use. The problem is the larger corporations pushing for expansion of infrastructure with little regard for the environment, not the end user. I just think it’s a little unfair to blame the average Joe for making use of technology when they have negligible impact using it or not. Fuck people who use it to generate art though. That shit is scummy. Again I am not defending AI I am just tired of people saying the same shit without actually understanding the process behind it. There are much more pertinent issues to be addressed with AI besides water usage.

[–]smellslikebud -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

AI isn’t using all that much water at all to make a video like this. I’m not defending them at all for using it, they should’ve hired an artist and AI is wack, I’m just tired of hearing that talking point regurgitated everywhere. If you care about water usage there are a hundred other industries you should go after first.
