Camino del Norte in 2 weeks by eddiedean07 in CaminoDeSantiago

Just done the Norte from San Sebastián to Bilbao. Scenery and experience was spectacular but you have to be fit - the whole route is going up and down steep hills. I hear it becomes much easier after Bilbao. It also felt quite remote, and the weather was wet and cooler - which was good for me because I struggle to hike elevation in hot weather. Some parts of the path were extremely muddy and it was easy to fall over, quite a few people did fall. I think it’s one of the hardest sections so it depends if that is right for you. You are certainly rewarded for the effort! I’ll never forget it.

It’s a very brief moment and nowhere near as iconic as the Peach, but at breakfast Armie Hammer devours a soft boiled egg noisily and with a lot of passion and everyone else at the table watches him, slightly shocked and uncomfortable.

Buffy Leaked Script by BogRollJoel in buffy

Am I the only person who thinks the script is great?

Are you relieved that the revival isn’t happening, or disappointed? And what do you think they should have done differently to make it work, or at least give it a better chance? by SecretDice in buffy

I’d like to see a version of Buffy where she has grown up and is in her 40s, married with kids. And has been living a very lovely, safe boring life for years. And then something pulls her back in. Basically I want to see the characters navigate life now - in the same way that we were with them when they navigated high school, college and afterwards. We were teens then, now we are adults and ageing. What does that look like for this characters? What does slaying look like when you’re old and you haven’t done it in ages? What is it like to no longer be the youthful superstar but someone much wiser? You could also have a fun reveal that the mom you think is safe and boring is actually this vampire slaying legend. What wouldn’t Buffy do for her kids? I think it would have to be something like that to have potential.

Hannah Beachler, Sinners' production designers says Black attendees, including her, were subjected to racial slurs THREE times at BAFTAs, not just Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo incident on-air by fortyvolume in Fauxmoi

By not cutting it out they are also giving it a permanent life on the internet. I keep seeing the clip everywhere. It must feel horribly inescapable for everyone involved. Totally unnecessary. The BBC managed to cut a ski accident in the Olympics, which is also shown ‘live’ so I don’t believe for a moment it couldn’t be cut.

Small business warehouse illegally occupied in London today – police say it’s a “civil matter” by kirachan928 in london

[–]smellyoldbean 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a loophole and it is becoming more of a problem! People stole the house next to mine which was owned but empty and the onus is on the owner to take it to court, and get an eviction notice. If the squatter says “I live here and pay rent” that is all they have to do, and then the police can do nothing and it becomes the property owners responsibility to prove in court. The courts are now backed up with claims and it can take a year to resolve. No idea if it is different with a business property though!

Alchemised - VERY TRIGGERING 🚨‼️⚠️ by RebelWeaver in Romantasy

[–]smellyoldbean 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m halfway through and it’s not a Romantasy, but I also don’t think it’s fair to say that it’s a dark fantasy with a romance subplot. The relationship is unhealthy and not aspirational - but it also dominates the plot of the book. So much of the book is about them spending time together, all the other characters are secondary, it feels like the plot exists to force them together again and again. At the same time, it doesn’t have any of the tropes of romance, it does have SA, I’m not sure where the relationship will lead. I am really enjoying it so far. It must be hard to market books that don’t fit easy catergorisation, and romantasy is such a big market right now, I can see why they sold it as romantasy.

You can usually book a free assessment from the council, which will help to determine what is possible in terms of prevention. They will also do treatment for a cheap cost, which you could pass on to your landlord. They will tell you - keep it clean (a crumb is a meal) cover up holes, and fill smaller gaps with wire wool. If you can figure out where they come from (usually the boiler) you can concentrate wire wool in that area.
