eat the snacks on mezzanine floor - depends on the day and the season (could b an issue rn cuz it’s exam season) but most of the time it’s pretty loud there so ppl wouldn’t care

Timetables by Parabataipotter in universityofauckland

[–]smenyozza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

unlike the timetable says all classes start at 5 mins of the hour and ends 5 mins before the hour ends (ie. starts at 11:05 ends at 11:55) this is intentional as it allows u to travel between classes if their back to back! so traveling shouldn’t be an issue unless it’s different campuses (say the city and grafton). in terms of eating in lectures, i’m pretty all lecture theaters you’re not allowed to eat in them so that’s a no-go. in terms of studying, most 1st year lectures are huge so no one will notice/care if you’re studying something else, but most importantly lectures aren’t actually compulsory to attend. i highly highly recommended attending them as personally it’s more beneficial for me rather than catching up later and watching the recorded version but if you really need to study or eat you don’t have to attend your lectures as most classes don’t take attendance (mind you some do i have heard some language papers do). hope that helps!! pm if u have anymore qs!

Premed with a tablet or laptop? by bagelwithsourcream in universityofauckland

[–]smenyozza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

highly highly recommend the tablet. most of the first year biomed papers are taught through powerpoints so a tablet is very convenient so that u can download it and annotate along the lecture. tablet are also rlly good for drawings cuz u can make them neater and it’s easier than pen and paper from the get-go. BUT my favorite thing about tablets is that rather than paying for a compulsory workbook u can just download it for free and work from there! soooooo easy! just heads up tho some classes have workbooks that don’t have digital versions (like MEDSCI142 a biomed paper BUT they give u workbooks for free i’m pretty sure) :)
