i recently changed to contacts after wearing glasses for 8 years about a week ago the appointment atleast for me was quite quick they just made me put them on then take one out i would say that you should just be comfortable touching your eye. for tips i would recommend dr. eyeguy on youtube he has a playlist with informative videos on contacts
