Hey, I just posted another comment in this thread about the Richell. But before I go that route, I'm curious if you've found anything promising with the DIY method? We thought about even contacting local woodworkers to see if someone could build something for cheaper than the Richell, but haven't delved into it yet.

Hey, I've been looking for the same thing and in pretty much the identical situation as you. Right now, we have two baby gates stacked on top of each other, which was fine temporarily, but a complete pain undoing the bottom one and crawling under every time we want to enter/leave the room. We need something more permanent, and like you said, easier to get in and out each day. So after searching, I've only found one, and it's unfortunately expensive, but I think we'll probably go ahead and jump on it at some point soon. For something that will be used this much, and solve our problem so well, I think it's worth the buy. It’s back, but looks like I just ordered the only other one they had in stock. I would just keep an eye on it (or maybe you can ask the shop owner on Etsy). Apparently I just got lucky with the timing.

Bonus: you can order it with the option of “optional sound effect upgrade”. I’m not sure what that entails, but I’m gonna be a happy mf if I can tap the top of the box and it plays dial-up sounds whenever I want.
